North/West at Fernandina Beach Golf Club
About
Fernandina Beach Golf Club is home to three distinct nines, the North, South, and West that make up three different 18-hole combinations. This 27-hole facility boasts a unique configuration on each of the nines for a truly diverse golfing experience. The North/West course at Fernandina Beach Golf Club combines the longest nine, the West, and the shortest nine, the North. The North nine features undulating greens and water hazards but the generous, wide-open fairways of the West nine make the golf course accessible to players of all skill levels. Native foliage in addition to towering oaks and pines throughout the course allow for a scenic escape in addition to an excellent round.

Conditions Continuing to Improve - Give it a Try
Im a City resident, single handicap and play the course 2-3 times a week. If you only focus on the negative, yes there are issues: Tee boxes, primarily on the South course, and some fairways have bald spots. Fully acknowledged. Note that the course condition was not managed well by the third party manager retained by the City until they were terminated in 2020. This 27 hole course has 200 acres to maintain and gets about $400k in labor and supplies to maintain while most other courses, public as well as private, get close to double that amount for 18 holes with nearly half the acreage. City budgets are a challenge. Then we had the course completely shut down for a couple of months by the City during the spring of 2020 due to COVID reaction by the city. No revenue and limited maintenance at the start of the 2020 growing season. The new general manager and new course superintendent have each been on board for less than one year. 2022 is the first growing season that reflects their efforts on a limited budget. Results are obviously positive if you played last fall and now. Plenty of growth in most fairways, though a few need more work that is coming. Tee boxes - 1 And 8 South in particular- are getting significant help shortly. The course also has huge, overgrown Live Oak trees that adversely affect grass growth due to sun blockage and root intrusion. That is also starting to get addressed. While work remains to be done, it is still a great experience. The greens are in very good shape and have a lot of slope to challenge you. The South is a target layout - precise tee shots matter on every non par 3 - definitely not a grip it and rip it layout. If you can’t handle some challenging tee boxes, I suggest playing North and West. If you play South, and are loose off the tee, you will be complaining about the tee boxes all day and ignoring the issues with your swing and club selection. As far as value, it is quickly becoming the only game in Nassau County. Shop prices and you’ll see.
Everything but the tee boxes
I had a great time, just please for the love of god fix your tee boxes. Like hitting out of a sand trap. And if you’re going to have a ranger you should actually have him speeding up slow people, especially on a Saturday.
Convenient Location
Municipal course in a great location - just needs more TLC. Turf is pretty rough in places. BUt a great place to start the season for a northerner.
Badly in need of some TLC - such disappointment
I’ve played this course in the past and was disappointed that it was in such bad shape. Tee boxes are all dirt. No ranger on site for assistance and no cart girl for drinks. Food in clubhouse was expensive (hotdog $7.50) and drinks weren’t real cold. Just disappointed overall ☹️
Terrible
Should have done more research before playing. Half the tee boxes were just dirt, literally no grass on the tee box! Greens were not impressive. Wasn’t worth the $60 bucks to play.
Interesting course
Beautiful layout, lots of dog legs and narrow tee shots. Greens were great, tees and fairways need work. Cool layout and good price.
Below average golf course
Not much to say, this course is below average. The greens are ok but the fairways and rée off, needs a lot of loving and tender care.
Weekend Getaway
We were in the area for our Grandson's 1st birthday and also a weekend getaway. We booked our round on Golf Now to ensure we got the preferred tee time. Bery pleasantly surpised with the course amd all the nice people that worked there. The course has 3 nines (North, South, and West) we played the West and South. The xourse layoit was great and the surrounding area was beautiful. Unfortunately the tee boxes and fairways were not very good. Most boxes were dirt and fairways were not very good either. However, the greens were very nice. The ball held the greens and rolled out to the hole nicely. We will play there again when we return to the area to visit our family.
