West/South at Fernandina Beach Golf Club
About
Just north of the Jacksonville Airport, Fernandina Beach Golf Club offers three 18-hole courses that are conveniently located within distance of both Jacksonville and the beach. There are three distinct nines at the club that create three different 18-hole combinations. The West/South combination is the tournament course at Fernandina Beach Golf Club. The West nine is long and there is a challenging par-5 that is one of the most difficult on the golf course. The South nine features an abundance of trees and water hazards, putting a heavier emphasis on accuracy rather than distance in scoring well. The golf course is also considered a perfect example of scenic Florida golf with native foliage and wildlife throughout.

Terry
Course is in good shape even though there has been a lot of rain
No warning
There was no warning on Golf Now letting people know only one of the three nine holes were open. We paid full price for this and one of the tee boxes were closed for repair. This has been this way for months.
Terry
Course was in good shape after reopening because of all the rain
Not even worth the hot-deal price
Place is abysmal and I can only get upset at myself thinking it will get better, the few and far between rounds I've played there. Guy who checked us in at the pro shop was super rude, for whatever reason, and another twosome asked us if we received the same treatment. I dont believe theres a single flat tee box on the course. The South course was the only one open when we played (unbeknownst to us) and the tee box on 1 was closed. Waste of time, money and effort. Tried enjoying what we could but this course doesn't seem to have one redeeming feature. Play Amelia River down the road for a night and day difference
Pleasant Surprise
Course was in good shape - fairways fine - greens were slow but had just been punched so this was understandable- pace of play was fine - played 18 holes in @ 3 hours 20 minutes - enjoyable time
Not helpful for handicapped people
Course maintenance is improved and fairways and traps much better but greens are so long and fuzzy that makes it difficult to roll the ball
Late tee times
Don’t offer tee times at nearly 6pm if your employees are going to grumble at me for playing as many holes as I could while being back BEFORE he asked me to be.
Thank you for your timely reviews and continued support of the golf course.
Grass in the rough is TOO long
Overall, the course is good. There is one really big problem inmy mind.
If you miss the fairway, you lose your ball in the VERY LONG grass . I spent a lot of time looking for my ball when it should not have been so difficult to find it.
They need to cut the first rough cut a little lower.
Thank you for your review.
We have been working hard to catch up on all the grass we have had growing on the golf course recently. We appreciate you playing and look forward to having you out again!
Greens
The greens on the north course were in bad condition and the greens on the south course were being arriated
Thank you so much for your review. We have been a bit behind with our aerification schedule due to the weather. We are continuing to make improvements and look forward to you coming back again!
The course does not honor pricing
The course is in poor condition. The staff was rude, and they refused to honor the prepaid pricing and demanded more money at check in.
Course was in bad cy
Only nine holes were open for play and the greens were in poor condition.
Carts only allowed on North course
I arrived for my tee time and was told that the South course was closed and the West was walking only so if I wanted to play 18 holes with a cart I needed to play the North course twice. The first time around was actually quite nice as the pace of play was good. When I went to play my second nine it was quite backed up and I quit after 6 holes.
Good time for a first time
This course is well layed out and fun. Some challenging holes with narrow fairways surrounded by trees and water. I played the North/South courses as the West course was closed due to the hurricane that recently came through. The only issue I had was when I checked in for my T Time no one mentioned the men’s group that was playing earlier that morning. The pace of play was extremely slow. 7-10 minutes per hole starting on the second hole on the front nine. The staff were very courteous, the Marshall was out and trying to speed it up, and the bloody Mary’s were on point. Definitely will be back again.
