West/South at Fernandina Beach Golf Club
About
Just north of the Jacksonville Airport, Fernandina Beach Golf Club offers three 18-hole courses that are conveniently located within distance of both Jacksonville and the beach. There are three distinct nines at the club that create three different 18-hole combinations. The West/South combination is the tournament course at Fernandina Beach Golf Club. The West nine is long and there is a challenging par-5 that is one of the most difficult on the golf course. The South nine features an abundance of trees and water hazards, putting a heavier emphasis on accuracy rather than distance in scoring well. The golf course is also considered a perfect example of scenic Florida golf with native foliage and wildlife throughout.

North and West Courses
The West and North Courses are better of the three. South Course is just a lost cause at this point. Overgrowth is killing that course and some parts of the West and North. If they can sell the South Course and put the money from that into the West and North then it could be a great course. Trees need to be trimmed back or removed so the fairways can get sunlight so they aren’t so bare.
Course has potential
This could be a very nice course,
This course is poorly maintained,
Grass is sparse on fairway’s, rough is just weeds
Greens are poor also,
This could be a great asset for the city, but they mismanage this course terribly,
You need to have grass on a golf course, not weeds
Would love to see it managed properly
Fernandina
Nice for a muni. Some holes in kinda rough shape but overall not bad.
Average Course
This Golf course is your typical public "city" golf course. The layout is good, it's never truly crowded, and the course is in OK condition. I would like to see the tee boxes and fairways fixed up a bit. For the price we play it's difficult to tee off when the tee box looks like a mine pit, feet are always uneven, or the tee box is like a mountain peaking at the middle.
Needs Work & Total Overhaul
Pace of play was great, Thats where the good stuff ends. There is very little grass in fairways or tee boxes. Total sand traps all the way to the hole. Bare, naked ground on fairways and tees. The grass that IS growing is weeds. Greens werent the BEST.. but very good compared to the rest of the course. I took a chance based on price and now i know why it wasnt very busy today. Yardage markers on one of the 9's seemed VERY off from actual distance. The city needs to either put money in this place or build more condos. The current state of course is just plain bad.
Course looks better than I remember
Course seems to be in great shape and the range has been re-done since I visited last.
Course in need of TLC
Making a 10:06 Saturday morning tee time our golf party was placed directly behind the last group in an ongoing golf tournament that was being held. The pace of play was awful and no course ranger was on site to help speed up play. At times it took up to 20 minutes for the group ahead to complete one hole. After (12) holes of play we decided to suspend playing the remaining (6) holes as we were already 3+ hours into the round and to frustrated to continue on.
Also, their were holes where the fairways and tee boxes were bare of grass and every bunker we saw was in need of bunker sand. As a Fernandina Beach native this used to be a nice course to play, not anymore.
The city of FB need to seriously consider investing more money in the needed resources to bring this course back to a ⭐⭐⭐⭐ + rating that it once held. I almost joined this course last year and from what I experienced today, I'm glad I didn't!
