Las Colinas is one of two championship golf courses at Mission Inn Resort. It is less challenging than the other course, El Campeon, but both provide enjoyable and unique rounds. Las Colinas sprawls across gently rolling hills with elevation changes that are less startling than those found throughout the older El Campeon course. Twisted oak hammocks and a sprinkling of lush pines accent Las Colinas. The golf course has an inland links layout that boasts wide-open, forgiving fairways and large, receptive greens. There is an interesting variety of risk/reward opportunities as well as a few forced carries. The course has many player-friendly features but its classic architecture does call for a fair amount of accuracy, especially on its signature hole, the par-5 12th. Nicknamed "Alligator Alley," this 493-yard hole features a winding, tree-lined fairway.

Great Day of Golf

Was a perfect day on the course, pace of play was superb, everything was great, love this course. Our only complaint is it was hot, you are not permitted to bring coolers to the course and no cart person on the course. We were down to sharing our last half bottle of water for the last five holes, was a lesson in survival. Looking forward to our next round.

Beautiful course but so hard

I had read some reviews about the rough here being deep but man, this was another level. I have played some courses with deep roughs but this surpassed all of those so be prepared with many extra balls. An amazing drive should be watched until you see it fully stop cause you still might lose it. Besides that beautiful course and friendly staff.

Good but frustrating

First time playing this course. Course was I. Good condition and greens were excellent. The one issue I had was the length of the rough. If your ball ran through the fairway or bounced off the back of the green, you had to search for 10 minutes to find your ball, even though you had a good idea where it was. You literally had to step on the ball to find it. Just became frustrating for a non-professional golfer.

Fun course in good shape

First time playing las colinas and overall enjoyed my round. I do prefer El campeon after playing both courses now.

Course was in good shape, tee to green.

There was some sort of outing going on with the slowest group play I’ve ever seen. The ranger nearly had to babysit them through the course which not fun but I did appreciate their persistent effort. I lost my phone mid round and the staff lent me a cart to search for it for an hour, the staff is great. Found the phone later that night.

Fantastic Day of Golf

Started off the morning with a warm greeting from the staff at 6:00 am. Hit practice balls at the lit driving range. Since we were early and warmed up the starter allow us to start earlier than scheduled. Excellent fairways and superb greens. Rough was difficult I won't lie and I lost some balls, but your not supposed to hit it there! :) Played in under 4 hours. This is a challenging course that is well worth the money. If you haven't played here before, your missing out. I drove 1 1/2 hours to get here, and will not hesitate to do it again. It's that good. Fantastic day all around, thanks Mission Inn!

Great track

Very nice golf course, in really good condition for early August. Fairways and tee boxes are in great shape. Greens are still coming back from aeration, but are rolling nicely. Highly recommend this course.

Love it

Look this course is always in great shape . The rough is very challenging but it’s golf . It’s not for the faint at heart or for somebody who doesn’t like to be challenged. The pin placements Were tough and that’s how golf should be fun and challenging. The layout of fabulous

Colinas

Both courses at mission inn are always a treat, with los colinas playing a little more straightforward and not as devilishly tough as el campeon. That said,it still has some teeth, with many long par 4s and a few wicked 200 + 3s.Greens and tees are always some of the best in the area, and they are doing alot of work on the course now.Highly recommend, they have a reasonable senior rate mon-thurs.

Not for the faint of heart

Las Colinas was objectively in excellent condition, except for #7, which had construction that shortened a fun par 4 into a par 3.

BUT!!! The bermuda rough was high and thick. If you missed the fairway by even a foot, you most likely would not find your ball unless you stepped on it. Moving it forward was almost impossible. The only excuse I can see for this (and not having a shorter first cut) is that there must be a pro tournament coming shortly. For the rest of us, the setup was far too penal to consider returning.

Pro Shop Employee

I love Mission Inn Resort and the two courses. Used to play in a league there and now volunteer and earn certificates for the days I work. Yesterday, the only person in the pro shop challenged me regarding the validity of the certificates. I was treating a friend to a round of golf and the person working had an attitude that did not belong in the pro shop. Made me feel unwelcomed and just wasn't what I have experienced in the past. Maybe he was just having a bad day, but if you want golfers to return, they have to feel welcomed. I'll be back but maybe the person working yesterday in the pro shop needs to be less aggressive and more informed. Just my opinion!!
