Disney's Magnolia Golf Course
About
The 18-hole Magnolia Course at Walt Disney World Golf Resort in Lake Buena Vista, FL is a resort golf course that opened in 1971. Designed by Joe Lee and Rocky Roquemore, Magnolia Course at Walt Disney World Golf Resort measures 7516 yards from the longest tees and has a slope rating of 141 and a 76.0 USGA rating. The course features 5 sets of tees for different skill levels. Greens and fairways are bermuda grass.
Of all the Disney courses, the Magnolia supports a greater abundance of wildlife. At any given time, you're likely to see deer, osprey, alligators and turtles. A flock of wild turkeys has brought several tournaments to a standstill while they pecked along its fairways. The course features elevated tees and greens with wide and generous fairways graced by over 1,500 magnolia trees that bloom from late spring to mid-summer. Brightly colored crape myrtles and oleanders, along with beds of blue plumbego and seasonal flowers, add sparkle to an otherwise dense, natural forest.

Unfortunately, the climate of recent has not been conducive to healthy turf growth, but we expect that as the weather warms up again, that the vibrancy of the turf will again return.-Management Photo submitted by Ah1122 on 03/24/2021

Exciting and beautiful course to play
After playing the Palm course the day before, Magnolia was a new experience for me and it was a very exciting place to be. For a 6 handicap, it was definitely my kind of course. The fairways and greens were in fantastic shape for this time of year and the staff at the course were extremely accommodating and very nice. The only concern I would have with the course was the pace of play. We were behind a group of two, and a group of 4 ahead of them that were very slow. Waiting a very long time between shots on the front nine, but on the back nine it picked up a fair bit, which was good. I would certainly recommend this course to all age groups and handicaps as the course itself holds so much history that is displayed on every tee box. Knowing you've played a PGA course that greats like Tiger Woods and Jack Nicklaus have mastered feels very special.
Great Quality Course
Just as with anything Disney, this is course is well maintained and the staff completely embodies the high level of Disney hospitality. Course is enjoyable yet challenging. Paid the Orlando Resident rate, which made it worth every penny. Only down side is pace of play, no rangers out truly monitering pace of play. Which I get, as most people are out of towners playing leisurely. Would recommend teeing off early as the starters box was at least 2 groups behind at a 9:30am tee time
Loved it
This course was more fun for us than the sister course at the Palm (Disney). Very nice and user friendly for us. It was 85 degrees, sunny and a perfect day. Lots of carts for drinks and food, super friendly staff, and overall a great day. Played with a great couple from Denver and had a great day. Course was difficult, but not crazy hard. Lots of water at the Disney courses. Even saw a little alligator.
Bad Timing for Weather
Horrible weather! Cold (48 degrees), Rain, wind. Quit after 16 holes. Should have quit after 9, but needed the practice of playing in bad weather. Also was just visiting the area (from Colorado), and a rain check was of no use. Played Magnolia 3 years ago, and was great weather, and good time.
Another enjoyable round at Disney
Decided to take a winter golf vacation to prep for the spring trip and of course had to hit the old mainstay at Disney. Haven't played here this early before but the course seemed to be in pretty decent shape, greens were a touch bumpy and slow but understandable for January. If you haven't played Magnolia you need to give it a try, a fair but demanding layout, and of course the famous Disney customer service carries over to everyone at the golf course as well. The only negative is that if you want a cold one after the round to relax, there really isn't anything there at the course (unless I totally missed it!) but downtown Disney is not far away and you have lots of options there.
Bob's Review
Pace of play was way too long 5+ hrs.Otherwise a good course. I enjoyed it.
One of the best in the area
A great layout with tricky greens ( or was it the green keeper with his pin positions) . Really well looked after course.
Different course
I pay to play at magnolia and I was send to play at Palms
Not very happy with that.
Great place
Great pace! Course is absolutely beautiful. Deer, turkey, and gators! Bunkers are perfect. Greens alittle rough. Had a GREAT time!!
Magnolia
The Golf Now twilight discount was great and there was enough time to complete 18 holes before December sunsets. Played from the senior tees . Would be more challenging with the water hazzards if used longer tees.
Good
Too slow play from of me green too much spike mark too many golfer
Tough Rough
Bermuda rough and the ball sat down it. Found several balls while looking for mine. Key hit the fairway off the tee. Several holes had the gold tee box up with the reds. Watch for small alligators in the water hazards. If you are live and play golf in area with some elavation, be prepared to use more club. Hit many shots short at first.
sometimes things happen
We booked Magnolia but was placed on the Palms because of a shotgun tourney. It is just a logistics issue because of the nature of the beast. Disney made it right for us as the Palm course was in excellent condition.
Excellent golfing
Would definitely recommend this course! Excellent condition and friendly staff!
Disney Course Great once again
Every thing went to plan. Tee'd off on time and although a lot of people playing we moved along fairly well. Went around with another couple and played in 4 hours and 20 min's. Greens were quick and true. Thanks
Great experience.
Everything was great. Staff was courteous, course in great shape. Pace of play was good.
Nice layout. Cool surroundings.
Many other golf courses in the area worth playing and where the staff is more professional. I will not return to play golf there unless I am forced to do so.
You have to any this one. Great course.
We couldn't have been made any more welcome if Micky Mouse had personally done it himself. Felt like we see the only people on the course, which clearly we weren't but the team see great. Big event being played on the day, so we started on the 10th. Expected it to be slow however it wasn't too bad. The pace of play was continual so we werent kept waiting on any tee. The course was amazing and definitely went to the top of our list of the best places to play. The fairways were good if you got to land on them! We found ourselves in the rough quite a lot and it was tough to get out of. Just long enough to hide the ball. Greens were receptive and true. Bunkers were a blinding white soft sand and easy to get out of. The whole ambience of the course was astonishing and certainly made for a fabulous game of golf. Although it is long and tough, we will be going back again as we know we can any it better than we did. I would highly recommend this as a course to lay. Yes it is pretty expensive but worth every cent. Great if you are a resident as the cost is reduced quite a lot.
Great Course
**I only played the back nine, but played it twice.
We played Magnolia on a Saturday. I knew the pace would be slow since its a resort. However the turtles in front of us were just so slow we decided to play the back nine twice, since they are starting you on the back these days. However the back nine was in fantastic shape and i would gladly play it again.
Greens were excellent. Fairways were beautiful. Lots of wildlife, nice facilities and the ice makers and water at the comfort stations is a great touch.
As always, just what i expect from Disney Golf.
Course conditions, did Disney go bankrupt?
Pictures above are either from a long time ago or edited through photo shop. No email or warning this course was aerated on the front. Ruff was burnt out and brown and water was murky with algae. Disappointed in seeing this course like this the way it is. Was very excited to play it due to its name and hosted many PA events. Would recommend to play due to being Disney'so course. Nothing really tricky about the layout. Course is mainly challenging due to its length.
