Disney's Palm Golf Course
About
The 18-hole Palm Course at Walt Disney World Golf Resort in Lake Buena Vista, FL is a resort golf course that opened in 1971. Designed by Joe Lee and Rocky Roquemore, Palm Course at Walt Disney World Golf Resort measures 6840 yards from the longest tees and has a slope rating of 134 and a 73.3 USGA rating. The course features 4 sets of tees for different skill levels. Greens and fairways are bermuda grass.
The natural Florida woodlands provide a stunning backdrop to one of America's premier resort courses. Architect, Joe Lee, designed the 6,870-yard Palm with elevated tees and greens. The key ingredient, of course, was the Florida palm and he made good use of nearly every variety for aesthetic and strategic purposes. Its fairways are crafted through a pine forest of mature, natural woodlands that includes moss-dappled oak, maple and cypress trees. Palmetto scrub fills the forest floor. It boasts of more than its share of water and sand with nine water holes and 94 bunkers.
This is a perfect choice for everything from a casual round to a large group outing.

The Palms
Only two issues was the pace of the foursome in front of us, who obviously were on vacation and enjoying themselves. Also, due to the amount of rain we have received recently, there were some very wet areas that could have used more marking. Other than that, great day of golf.
Absolutely great
even though it was cart path only when we played, everything was absolutely spectacular. the t-boxes were great, the fairways were perfect and of course the greens were in great condition. we will definitely play this course again.
Can't go wrong with a Disney bargain
Outstanding price for a Disney course and very little traffic for an 11:00 start( about 1/2 hr. before schedule). Super staff, golf friendly players & and very well maintained golf course. I was pleasantly surprised that there were no cart restrictions as course was very wet from previous night's rain. Again, Disney makes it easy for you to appreciate good service. We just came off the 18th when the sky's opened up big time so I doubt anyone left out there got to finish as it quickly became a lake. Hail to the Mouse!
Best of the Disney courses.
Excellent course. The only flaw seems to be that this course doesn't drain as well as most Florida courses. Rain the previous day left very soggy conditions. Cart path only for some holes. Could have been cart path only for the entire course.
Rainy day couldnt take away the beauty of the course
We got through the front nine of the Palms course and on the 10th hole as the par goes in, lightning began and the day was done. Had an awesome time while we could, course is pristine as usual. Love playing Disney any chance we get...especially the hot deal tee times...which there should be many many more of. :)
Playing Disney Magnolia
My husband and I had been scheduled to play the Disney Palm course but ending up playing Magnolia. Any golfer in Orlando should make this course a "Must Play".
Great, challenging course!
Like all Disney courses the Palm was in immaculate condition. Normal tee time rates can be a bit high, but if you find a hot deal it is most certainly worth it. The staff is very friendly, they have nice practice facilities and the pace of play was good. Will definitely be back.
Upgraded Palm Course
Enjoyed playing the upgraded Palm Course on Saturday, July 12, 2014. If you've played the course in the past the overall layout is basically the same, except for the 13th hole, and all the green complexes have been completely rebuilt. They also removed and reshaped many of the fairway bunkers.
The greens were firm and fast while the rest of the course was still very wet. Not surprising since the greens are clearly still bedding in and it's been a rainy last week or so in Orlando.
Overall, the new green complexes and revised fairway bunkering plan make for a more enjoyable and interesting golf course. There are many more options off the tee and a much greater variety of shots and choices available when missing a green.
The only hole that was dramatically changed is the short par four 13th. In the past it was a relatively uninteresting fairway wood - short iron or driver - wedge choice with little risk and reward. The new hole is a driveable with the green pushed up right next to the water on the right. There's a ton of room left to bail out, but that can leave a very tricky second over a bunker to a shallow green with water behind.
My only complaint is that the course still doesn't drain very well. We were relegated to cart-path only which can make for a long day slogging through very wet conditions.
The changes provide a good new experience at Disney and help differentiate the Palm Course from the longer and tougher Magnolia.
Great course
Nice layout,,greens were excellent..It has rained every day so the course was Cart Path only ..Ball plugged on every shot and zero roll..nice course though
Great Course To Golf!
One of my favorite Golf Courses. Lot of rain the night before, Cart path only :-( GPS is great carts roll smooth and the course is alway perfect. Must golf loation. can't wait to go back.
Disney course with history
I played here for a practice round before an upcoming tournament. The course is in relatively good shape, it is all Bermuda(fairways and greens), take that for what it is. Nice layout, trouble is easy to see and find, LOL. Pace was slow with the group in front not playing ready golf and looking for balls that probably couldn't be found. All hazards play as lateral, so drop and go on, you don't want to go in there anyway (swamp, thick ferns, snakes, etc)
Had a great time with the group I got paired with, could use mobile refreshment cart, on this day it was stationary between front and back nines, there are water stations on the course but load up with other beverages is a better idea!
Great!
As you can expect of anything related to the Disney name, everything was awesome. From the staff to the fairways to the quick greens. Even Bambi showed his face!!
Renovation is good
Most hole routing is same as before. All new greens. Removed some bunkers, redefined others.
Great course, lousy staff
Played this course many times and I have to say this was the worst ever. Now the course was great as usual but we have no idea what happened to the " Disney staff" and " Disney experience"
No starter to be found , no score cards to be found and it's T time . We took it upon ourselves to t off after waiting 12-15 minutes after our t time.
Usually we are greeted and given the " Disney speech" but not this time.
It was extremely hot and not a single beverage cart was seen on the course .
Fill up your bags with drinks if you want to survive the heat.
This experience was not " Disney rated"
Must play golf course
Wonderful experience. The course is in excellent condition. Challenging but not overwhelming. Even the rain sprinkles were Magical.
Good course for all handicaps
Fairways were perfect, greens rolled true and at a great speed. Bunker sand perfect. Only knock I had was on a Saturday morning at 8:00 we were a foursome following foursomes which was fine. However they sent out a two ball behind us and even though they weren't pushing us per se, they were waiting for us on every shot and were always in our vision making our group feel a little rushed. Would have let them through but there was nowhere for them to go. All in all great course and will be back.
Palm is a great course
Played in 4 hours with a 7:08 tee time. Greens were firm, but they rolled true. Everything was in great shape and starter and ranger were great to talk with and helpful
GETTING A LEASON FROM A HIGH SCHOOL PLAYER
GREENS GREAT HARD AND FAST I GUESS ABOUT 11, FAIRWAYS GOOD CUT LOW LITTLE SOFT, ROUGH AVERAGE, OVER ALL GREAT DAY PLAYED IN 4 HRS WHICH IS NOT BAD FOR RESORT PAIRED UP WITH FELLOW FROM MICH, AND 14 YR OLD FROM OCOEE HIGH WHO HIT IT 275 OFF TEE HE HAD GREAT GAME IS A VERY GOOD PLAYER
Lack of disneyification
Having played at both palm and magnolia, my daughter and I have been disappointed with the lack of Disney vibes which is uncharacteristic of all other Disney facilities. As a family, we have experienced the majority of Disney attractions in orlando and have always been impressed by the meticulous attention to detail and consistent atmosphere created.
We have had enjoyable playing experiences on both courses due to the attentiveness of the staff and overall design of the courses however with a lack of significant Disney embellishments they may have been situated anywhere. There is not a huge amount of work to be done, however with character modifications to the carts and improvements to tee boxes and flags the overall experience would be greatly improved.
As stated, we have had enjoyable experiences on the courses and we were pleasantly surprised to play a course in orlando which was not surrounded by condos and have witnessed some beautiful wildlife. However unfortunately the reality of playing golf on a Disney course fell short of our expectations and imaginations.
New changes revitalized the course
Disney. The Greatest Show on Turf. OK. But, you know... It's always really nice.
The first thing you'll notice is the bunkers and how they went from Joe Lee smooth (boring) to irregular, craggy and rough cut. Their placement also poses more of a threat now. The greens were firm, true, but not terrifyingly fast and seemed a bit more undulating than I remember. Also, not as soggy as usual. (They must have done some drainage work too)
Routing is the same old Palm, but with the new look, is quite refreshing. Also, some trees that posed problems for the player are now gone, and in their place are new opportunities.
The only negative is the car noise from Petty Driving Experience on the first few holes. Once you're past that, you're in the woods. We saw a gator grab something off the shore on #9! Yikes.
Its now managed by Arnold Palmer Golf so that may explain things a bit.
