Palmetto Golf Course
About
Palmetto Golf Course gets its name from the beautiful palmetto trees that line the fairways and meandering waterways. Although they add to the scenery, the trees double as a challenging element of the course since they can also affect shots. The golf course was designed by Dick Wilson, who has designed many other courses in the area. Water hazards come into play on 10 holes of the course, including the notable signature hole, which a 435-yard par-4. There are also sand bunkers strategically placed throughout. The Palmetto Golf Course facility boasts lighted practice facilities, including a practice putting green and driving range.

Very poor fairways
The course is generally in pretty rough shape. Most if the fairways are hard pan. The greens have been redone and are quite nice.
Wings in the restaurant are great
Staff are very friendly
Home course
This course was renovated last year. The Greens are in good shape but the fairways are terrible and several tee boxes are wanting. I don't know what it is but this course has problems that no one can seem to solve. Fairways on #4 and #8 - cart paths only on these holes but the fairways are terrible. Obviously they have drainage problems here and you would think that they would have addressed them last year when the course was closed. Forget about manicuring around the greens, from bare lies to rough and about 4 different types of grasses growing making up and down play rather difficult as it is pot luck when you miss the green. New sand in bunkers so play is not easy.
Incredible greens; horrible fairways
The greens and bunkers were renovated in the summer of 2013 and are in great shape. The fairways, on the other hand, are the worst fairways I've ever played. They're either dry or muddy, depending on the hole, and you must clean and place your ball to make it at least playable if you're in the middle of the fairway. Overall, the price matches the conditions, but if they put money into the fairways and increased the price, the course would play amazing. The layout is challenging and the course plays pretty long.
Not worth the money
The greens are excellent, but that's it. The fairways are very sub-par. I won't choose to play here again. The course was supposedly renovated but that was smoke and mirrors.
Good but the pace I played was slow
Good course, definitely need to try to challenge the layout and your patience.
Snails pace
Played this course on superbowl sunday- unable to complete 9 holes in 3 hours, left before finishing as did 2 other groups waiting behind us. Paid a special rate for this weekend, would have preferred to play normal green fee and had 1/2 as many people on course. Doubt that staff can sustain new upgrades put into this course w/ volume like this.
Management issues
I asked if I could tee off about a half hour early because there were so few people on the course. They said "no" and I accepted that. But then I had four different people tell me that I was playing on a free round because it was a "hot deal." It wasn't free for me, but they were dismissive and gave me the feeling that I shouldn't be there. I like the course, and I look for good deals. This is the first time this kind of attitude was ever presented to me. I won't let this one time discourage my use of Golf Now or even playing at this course, but I sure hope they aren't this way in the future. I got the feeling that they think they get no benefit from Golf Now and wish they weren't a part of the program.
Most of the staff was very nice to me, but I could tell the management sent out the word that "hot deals" are freebies. Even if they are, they should welcome "hot deal golfers" with open arms.
Good greens
Excellent price, course condition are good, the course is challenging ,water hazards make it challenging
A MUST GO!!!
Great course. Recently renovated. Well maintained.
Fairways conditions
The greens were in good condition. However, conditions of the fairways needed improvement.
This course has done a nice turnaround from before
I played this course a few years ago and it was in poor condition. They have added new greens that are great, the fairways are in good condition. This course is a good place to play golf.
Palmetto now has great greens. Wow!
Palmetto is in it's best condition in a decade at least--maybe ever. Palmetto now has very good greens and bunkers. This track plays much harder that the scorecard might indicate. A super challenge to shoot your handicap on this course.
Disappointing
Remember this course from playing it last year, but oh my goodness what horrific conditions. Painted greens, hard sand, a single drink cart on a Saturday afternoon with a lone small cooler. Will not see me on this course again unless some major upkeep suddenly occurs!
Fast But Dead Greens
Nice layout, well maintained fairways and bunkers. Greens are brown and around the greens is pretty torn up thanks to recent irrigation construction. Still worth the money and the dead greens are better than the live greens here imo.
Under Repair
This course is in dire needs for repair. Repair which should not be made at the expense of the golfer. What I mean by this is that the average golfer should not have to face having to deal with trenching around the greens and other repairs being performed (although absent of workers) during the course of our game. They need to make these repairs and then allow the players to come back and enjoy an otherwise beautiful course.
