About
The Country Club of Mount Dora is a semi-private club located 35 miles northwest of downtown Orlando in the hills of Lake County. The course was built by Clifton, Ezell & Clifton design and opened in 1991 and features water on 16 of 18 holes, as well as raised greens and bunkers. The course is set on mature landscape and affords views of the nearby horse farms and lakes. The par-72 course features bermuda grass tees and greens, plus three tee boxes to choose from. The country club is also home to a clubhouse, swimming pool and four tennis courts onsite.

Slow Play
Booked with my brother in law - sent off as a twosome, ranger stopped us on the 2nd hole to advise that there was a tournament ahead of us. No one bothered to mention it at the clubhouse or the starter. We were asked to join another twosome and still had to wait most of the day. At one point the ranger sent a twosome behind us to skip a hole and tee off ahead of us, only to be waiting all together on the tee box. Course was overbooked for the day and round took over 5 hours. Not the way I wanted to spend the day. Overall the course was in pretty good shape. Fairways were really good, some greens had some issues but mostly on the edges.

Unprofessional
This course is very good and well maintained. However, the guy made us come in at 7:30 because the carts “had to be in by 7:45”. We weren’t able to finish the last 4 holes. Very unprofessional. We did not pay for the twilight rate, we paid for 18 holes. Someone should of told us when we paid that they close at 7:45.

The same thing happened to me about a week ago. I had a group of guys in front of me playing slow by the time i got to the 15th hole i had someone who work there come yelling at me "telling me, i was finished playing and to return the car now" after i payed regular price to play. yet no one told me what time i was supposed to have the cart returned by.

Very good course
The course is looking good overall. A few blemishes on greens but they usually not in play. Didn’t get to enjoy amenities as there’s no food/ bev service on Mondays. SMH

Excellent course for the money!!
I play this course whenever aim in the area, and it's always enjoyable. Outstanding and friendly staff, interesting golf holes, and in very good shape.

Dave The Starter is not a fan of flip flops
First time playing here and was very pleased with the course and the price.
Just don’t show up 10 minutes early for your tee time because Dave (starter) will lecture you about how you’re late. God forbid you don’t have your shoes laced up tight and ready to go because this makes Dave angry. Not sure what his deal was but the guy who checked us in at the pro shop was a beauty. Dave should be more like him. Dave is that guy that makes you wonder who hurt him and made him the way that he is.
Anywho, give the course a try because it is fun and challenging and they clearly take good care of it.

Tough Course, Tougher Starter
First time out to this course. The delightful gentleman in the club house was a great “welcome to Mount Dora.” He checked us in and wished us luck on our future endeavors. Little did we know, the starter, Dave, was our next endeavor. Our tee time was 8:45am. We came to Dave at 8:39. He told us “pftt early is better, your other two are waiting for you on the tee box” we said “we are here on time?” And he looks down at my flip flops as though I had shown up barefoot and in a tee shirt and says “you don’t look ready to play.” To which my pal Neil said “we are ready in a moments notice.” He rushes us around the corner to the first tee where the twosome awaited us, they hadn’t tees off yet (now 8:43) because the members in front of them were 80 yds off the box. Glad we were accosted and rushed to the first tee DAVE.
All in all, course was tough and in good shape. I will be back but I sure hope Dave the starter has a much needed day off that day. The nice gal at the halfway house was great too! Dave, flip flop boy says you need a snickers.

Course Management
CCMD is in pretty good condition. So course condition won't be a valid excuse for a bad score. To score well you must be good at course must. Not only must select the right shot, but you have to execute it with minimal error. The greens are a good speed, so relax and roll the rock. If you like to be mentally challenged go play CCMD.

Bad greens and hard bunkers
Good course lay out some fun tough holes the greens were pretty bag though. Rolled very inconsistent and we’re pretty patchy. The bunkers were also very hard like hitting off the cart path. Great friendly staff that was on top of the pace of play. Has potential to be a great course.

Ranger saved the day!
Weather perfect for first 17 1/2 holes! Staff was outstanding and very courteous from the young man who brought me the cart to the starter and the pro shop! We got paired unfortunately with very slow players, and that made the first 3 holes painful. Never have had a warning for pace of play, so was embarrassed to see the cart stop! Luckily ranger gave us the go ahead to become a twosome! Instantly everything improved and had a blast until approach to 18 when the sky fell! Definitely will recommend and play again! Well worth the money!!
