The Country Club of Mount Dora

Although it is quite a drive, I play this course once or twice each winter. A delightful variety of holes, wind their way through a beautiful community of pristinely landscaped homes. The wildlife is a bonus. On top of it all, the Hot Deals times and rates easily make this a 5-star course - which I would play much more often if it was closer.

Very good layout with many distinctive well planned golf holes. Demands some precision, but not unreasonably so.

A real go to venue that has never been crowded when we’ve been during the week, and is very fairly priced.

Conditions are good. Greens very nice. Lots of water hazards and sand.

Played once last year and got one in this year.

Love the course and the staff were great.

Had to go home but will be back in May/June for

Course nice too many sand traps. Had Mid morning tee time , very few cars in parking lot but when we got to starter who was not sure what he was doing , our other twosome said they were waiting for 25 min. And no one was going out ahead of them. As we waited for 15 to 20 min past our tee time 3 groups of 4 were let out ahead of us. Maybe a starter with some knowledge of how to do his job might be helpful in the future.

Cart paths weave thru housing but not too many homes near the holes. Tricky layout at times. Good conditions for the money

Golf course in good shape. Greens in excellent condition. Golf course is challenging.

Found the course to be very nice. Be prepared to unload and load your own clubs. No one was available at the bag drop or to load your clubs on a cart and I never saw a starter for instructions. You're on your own. Same at the end of the round.

In spite of rain most of the round, the condition of the course was wonderful.

The fairways and greens were in great shape. Most of the holes played fairly but there are three or four holes that are extremely difficult regardless of how you choose to play them.

All said, it was a very enjoyable round.

We were the second teatime out. When we got to the fifth hole the Ranger came out to us and told us to speed our pace of play up. But our pace of play was better than the time allowed for the course. It was all because of a foursome behind us with four different carts that made a big deal when we only had two carts as a foursome so obviously we were a little slow .

So I’m hoping that the staff is reading this and when they can go out to check the pace of play that they check the time and what hole were on and determined that we are slower than the pace before mentioning anything. The problem is I had a very good round going on to the six hole and after that incident the scores just went higher.

The course condition is really nice. Greens are not large, but they hold and are very true to putt on. The course is not long, but has enough sand and water to be a challenge. Only complaint was that it was very slow and crowded, particularly on the front nine. The front nine was about 3 hours. The back went a little quicker.

We enjoyed this golf course and want to return to play it again now that we know the layout of the course and where the trouble lies. Our only disappointment was the foursome in front of us that had ample opportunity to let us play through but did not offer us the chance. We finally drive around them to find 3 open holes in front of them. Golf should never be a 5 hour round!

Played this course for the first time with another couple, it is challenging with some different character on lots of holes. Overall condition was good and typical for courses for this time of the year, lots of water and bunkers.

Would play again

Course is in very good condition, nice fairways, and very true greens. The greens hold your shot from 150 yds out and have excellent speed.

Staff was very friendly, Harry in the pro shop was super and the staff and food in the grill were excellent.

I’d go back again.

Very well laid out design with plenty of water, trees and sand protecting fairways and greens. Conditions are decent to good. Greens are fair and roll well. One of the more fun and challenging courses we’ve played in the area.

Perhaps the only negative would be driving between residences and sometimes over busy roads to get to certain holes.

Worth a detour.

The course caters to its octogenarian clientele. I arrived before dawn hoping to get out ahead of all the group play and despite the groups not going out on time I still had to wait while we had daylight and no one was on the course. Despite waiting, the pace of play was fine and I never really had to wait for a shot.

In terms of the course, it was just your average retirement community like golf course (each hole actually has handicap golf cart parking near the green). So the course wasn't bad, it's actually well maintained, but it's not amazing. Just a fairly typical uncreative golf track. If not for the wind the course is fairly straightforward and most of the tactical decisions wouldn't really come into play if you can play high corner cutting shots.

The greens were average in terms of speed. Not slow, but definitely not fast. The bunkers needed some attention after all the rain we have gotten over the last few weeks, but a bunker is supposed to be penal and most of them were so that's not really a problem.

Other than it being golf-season in Florida (as if it ever ends here) this course should never cost more than $30 for a round.

Easy to find, good facilities, good layout, excellent value for money. I'd come back again.
