Grand Cypress - North/South

Great Course. Super conditions. Good challenge. Played this Course many times before.

I was looking forward to this round with great anticipation. I had heard so much about this course that I could not wait. I had played many of the top courses in the area, and its seems that this has the highest ratings. I must say I had a very disappointing experience. The welcome, while OK, was not this great welcome that I read about. The practice range and putting green were up to par, but the carts had no GPS, had no coolers to put some water for the day in, only had Sand for divots on one side and had not towels. Not the worst but I expected much more. Those are things that even average courses have. I was paired with 3 others (they were very pleasant!) but one was going to be late. They made that VERY difficult. We took off bags and replaced them one another’s carts like 4 times because under no circumstance were they going to allow and extra cart out. Made a very easy solution amazingly difficult. Still, not the worst things I have ever experienced so on to golf! The First nine (North) was painfully slow. So slow that a very nice ranger came to us on about #6 and apologized but said that is the way it was gonna be all day (uh oh) . Greens were good and fast but otherwise OK. Admittedly the amazingly slow pace (the slowest I have experienced in quite a while) obviously tainted my opinion of the course unfortunately. When we made the turn I did something I have never done before because I am a die hard….. I packed it in because the clouds did not look good. It was only drizzling and while it was likely we would get hit hard, you never know. Normally I would ALWAYS forge ahead. But in this instance my experience was subpar to this point, so since I bailed and did not play the back (South 9). Will not be back unfortunately.

Played East / North as foursome. Course itself in good condition. North better than East. Greens rather fast. Tee boxes, fairways and bunkers well playable. Pace was not good at all – almost five hours! No player’s assistant out there to speed it up. But overall a very good track

Course was in fantastic shape. Green were rolling perfect amd they were all consistent. Most of the pins were tucked and in pretty difficult positions, but it made it more challenging and fun. Plus I got to meet Ken Griffey Jr on the range so all in all....pretty good day.

We had a good golf and lunch experience at the Grand Cypress golf course today.. Friendly staff, course is in great shape, and the food in the restaurant was delicious.. The only negative was that the red tees were pushed back to within a few yards of the white tees and my wife had to play almost 6000 yards for 18 holes. She typically plays 5200 to 5400 yards in 18 holes.

North south and East.

Played the North and East nines. Both courses were in excellent condition with fast greens. What made it better was the hot deal I was able to use even though I stayed on site. Cheers to Golf Now.

Course is always in great shape, staff is great, facilities are best in area, pace of play this time of year is very good, did 18 in 3 hours.

Beautiful course with a real nice layout....only downfall was carts had no GPS

It was very nice course north to south after a hard rain it drained well, Play the New course a few days later and it was also very enjoyable I will return when visit Orlando

Every time I play this course, it is inevitable that I want to return to play here again and again. I would recommend this course to anyone who wishes to have a great time, and play golf in a pristine environment.

I booked on golfnow to play in a foursome, when I checked in I was told that I would be playing with 2 members and a young chinese girl who was aspiring to become a professional golfer.

When I got to the starter the two members had already gone ahead of the tee time and the chinese girl when she arrived somewhat rudely stated that she did not want to play with me and would proceed alone, leaving me high and dry.

Frankly if she ever wants to make it to the professional ranks she needs to learn some manners.

Fortunately another single turned up about 20 minutes later which saved me bagging it for the day and I had a pleasant day with the young man from Mexico city marred only by the condition of the greens on the back nine.

The South couse was superb, great layout in fantastic condition, not so the North course, the greens had been very recently aerated and were very poor ( not disclosed on golf now, very poor form Grand Cypress) which spoiled a day which was looking up for a while.

We came across numerous discarded balls a couple of times almost hit the wrong ball and assume these carelessly left behind by the chinese girl ahead who was playing multiple balls.

So I would play the course again if conditions were right but not book on golfnow because this issue with booking as a single and being messed around by the starter is getting old.
