Your approach to the 8th at Grand Cypress New needs to cross a burn, and you'll drive your cart over a stone bridge toward the green. Kitschy? Sure, but chalk it up to commitment to a certain aesthetic. Photo submitted by TimGavrichGP on 08/31/2018

Play within yourself
The love the course. greens are huge & wide because you play one extra large green half the front nine and the other on the back nine. Play within yourself some shots will make you do things that you would not normally do, keep in mind of the wind it may seem STILL but it is blowing around up there. The greens run true (aka) FAST so play smart. I will play again.
This is the best Links course I have ever played.
Was a great game. Rained earlier but the course drained really well. Wide fairways. Fast greens.
great course
Very nice course, well maintained, the staff was very friendly but the pace of play could have been quicker
Great place to play
This is my third time playing here through a Golf Now booking. My only complaint is, on all three bookings, my tee time was pushed back 30 minutes or more. The site mentions this possibility, so be aware that they seem to take this liberty often. I still can't understand why this would be necessary when we all think a tee time implies a reservation, so I get a bit annoyed with this. The staff. Is always kind and helpful. The Old Course offers kind links-style fairways and challenging greens, green sides and bunkers. The course feels remote in a good way, and the conditions are always positive.
Must do course. The greens were in great shape and fast!
Well worth a visit. A fun course that gives you a taste of St. Andrews here in FL.
Fun Golf Course
I've never played St. Andrews, but I've played the New Course twice now and will keep looking for great deals on GolfNow.com every time I'm in Orlando. The course is forgiving off the tee. There are a ton of pot bunkers which you can end up in with good shots, but that is part of the charm. Greens are super fast and take some getting used to, but roll out nicely.
Someday I'll get to St. Andrews and see if this is what it is like. But even if it's not close, it is a great course. Play it if you can.
Bring your short game
The course layout itself is pretty boring. There are several blind shots to extremely difficult greens that have a lot of mounding and fall offs. If you are not good at chipping and putting from 50ft plus I would not play this course. It is very British Open feeling but without the penal bunkering. Most of the bunkers were not in play in my opinion. I personally would rather get my but kicked tee to green and not on the greens
3rd Time I have played the course - highly recommended
We played the new Course and the 9 holes East Course on a play all day deal. The course was in great condition, the greens very true, and the weather great.
Links Golf In Central FL
Jack Nicklaus design, unreal! Moved right into my top 5 courses. An absolute must play.
Great Expierince
The course and service were impeccable . The staff was enthusiastic and professional. The course was in great condition and an absolute blast to play. Will make it a regular place play.
Fun course with wide open fairways to flatter a slightly wayward drive
A nice course with very good greens and excellent facilities - the easier of the courses at this resort with lots of space for an errant tee shot on most holes - would at this again if the rate was right
Disappointed With Course Ranger
We were very disappointed with the horrible job of the course ranger. We made the turn after having a good pace only to find a foursome appear who weren't there before. When we asked the ranger named Paul where they came from he sarcastically said they had stopped for lunch and now came back to finish the back nine. He rudely stated in these exact words that" he couldn't do anything about it." We were appalled and shocked with the rudeness of this ranger and the fact that he knew they cut in front but would do nothing about it. We also met a couple in the clubhouse who said they skipped a hole to go around a slow foursome. If the rangers did their job properly this would not happen.
The New is not quite the Old...but nothing is ever bad at Grand Cypress
As someone who appreciate the history of St Andrews, I had been looking forward to finding the right time to play the New Course at Grand Cypress for some time. Knowing full well that Grand Cypress always offers a heightened overall golf experience, this particular round matched my high expectations. The course was in superb condition and quite a treat to actually play. The double greens alone are worth the greens fees, and there was never any crossover between my play and another player even while hitting to and putting the same green on different holes. It is also amusing to me how the cart paths (only around tees, greens and between holes) are actually designed to look and drive a bit ragged in spots. Despite much rain recently, 98% of the course showed no signs of it. Oh, and if you see the pin location as back right at the home hole...make SURE you play your approach below the flag even if you do end up in the Valley of Sin. I hit to four feet above the flag and it was the fastest/most difficult 48 inch putt I have attempted this calendar year. Nope, did not make it. Neither will you.
Awesome! Great Links course in Central Florida
This is the closest I may get to playing St Andrews or a course most similar to those in the British Isles. The greens were slow & bumpy, but recently aeriated & topdressed, so I expected worse. The staff --ProShop, cart attendants, starter (super nice guy) --provided top notch service, that similar to a private club. Course was in great shape, and I thoroughly enjoyed the layout. I was teamed with a couple of Brits, so that just made the experience even more enjoyable. We got held up by a couple of slow groups, but we jumped around & completed the 18 without much hassle.
Great non traditional USA golf layout
The New Course is like playing a plush St. Andrews without the history. Very courteous staff and the all you can play feature was great. Played 36 holes in 6 hours! Wide open fairways but greens keep you challenged. Highly recommend for all levels.
WIDE OPEN TRACK
I played this course a very long time ago when it first opened and I didn't remember it at all! I thought the course was nice but nothing that I would rant and rave about. I have a tournament coming up here and I saw a chance to play it for $19 on GN and couldn't pass it up.
Greens had been recently punched but rolled pretty good, and the course was in good shape. As bad as I have been hitting it off the tee this was the perfect track for me because it is pretty hard to get in trouble except for the fairway bunkers (which can be very nasty!)
The only thing that was a little bit of a negative was that if you have never played here it is confusing as heck to figure out which fairway is the one you should be aiming for. The course has shared fairways and greens on almost every hole and is tough on a first timer to get it right.
It is a great course. But not on that day.
Whenever I want to play pristine course I go to grand cypress. It was my birthday and want to play a great course. I booked it on golfnow, and no where did it say they were airfing the greens!!! I was very disapointed. When we checked in I told the guy I didn't need any range balls, I was just going to putt. The said nothing as well. It was the worst golf birthday trip in a long time. Most disapointed round at grand cypress ever!!!!!
fun
Me and 3 friends enjoyed the "New Course" very much. The deep Scottish style bunkers were challenging and entertaining. We're looking forward to returning there.
Aeration Disappointment
First time playing the course, and traveled over to play with my sons, and having played the Old Course At St. Andrews, was looking forward to experience and compare this Nicklaus tribute course. There was no indication of a A! (Aeration Alert) on the GolfNow site when I booked my time or I would have waited. The greens were punched within the last two weeks and were un-putttable particularly on a course with 7 double greens, that are huge, and lots of undulation and break. Even the staff seemed surprised when we were asked about our experience after the round. Liked the layout, staff was great, but green condition ended this day as a disappointing experience.
Greens were awful
If the greens had not been aerated then this course would be fine
