Pace of play was good for 4 holes, then ran into slow play until the end.
First time this has happened.
Decent Local Play
The course had recovered fairly well from the impact of Hurricane Irma. There were areas of the fairways that were still unplayable, but they were marked well as GUR and I simply moved the ball out to a suitable place. The greens were in good condition and otherwise the fairways were fine. They were out mowing all areas and overall, the course is well managed. The bunkers had been mechanically conditioned and were fairly predictable.
The employees at the course were very friendly and accommodating. My one concern (as has been the case most every time I've played here) is that the locals just aren't in any hurry to get anywhere. So the pace of play suffers. I know this going in and since I'm often playing by myself (I'm visiting from NE Georgia) I usually drop a couple of balls and practice whenever things get slow. If you're looking for a fast paced round, I'm not sure where you'll find it in this area...but it won't likely be at River Bend.
good after rains
the course had some spots marked off where water was still standing as free drop areas there was a worker pumping them out so they are trying there best
Nice course. Only playef it after a hurricane came through. So it was a little rough and wet.
Nice course. Goid staff. Greens alittle rought. But I played only six days after a hurricane. So its not any baf reflection on tje course. I would certainly play here again.
Like it
Very nice course, good friendly employees, the last 14 rounds I played were here.
Come play!
Great Course
Basically this is a great course. Conditions where fine. Can be unforgiving, but also rewarding. Great all around track. I'd like to keep this course to myself, but you will enjoy it.
Overgrowth and fallen debris
I love this course. The course is in good shape and the cost for playing very fair. Some of the cart paths are in terrible condition (broken concrete), and the wooden bridge over the road needs an overhaul. The maintenance staff needs additional funding to remove the fallen debris from Hurricane Matthew. Overall the course needs a good clean-up off the playing surface. The putting greens and tee boxes are great, the fairways very well maintained, and the signage clearly marked. The club house and staff are fantastic! I do not like the gas powered golf carts, but that is my personal preference.
Hidden Gem
Love this local course! Fun yet challenging! Excellent condition. All the staff friendly and welcoming! Looking forward to playing again .
Embarrassment...
To make it clear, I will NEVER play there again, & I live 2 miles away. Played there ONLY because I needed to be close to home/work that day. BIG mistake. $34 in Summer & this was a "deal". Get on the course & the tee boxes, sand traps, & greens were "unplayable". I would be embarrassed to take $10 from someone to play that dump. Embarrassment to the City of Ormond Beach. It is close to being Tomoka Oaks Jr.
Real Florida experience
Interesting way to experience Central Florida, as one of the most striking features of River Bend is the long traverses on dirt paths through Florida jungle-like woods between several holes. We were joking the course must have been laid out by the Timucuan Indians, because you are so deep in the woods sometimes. This is not a walking course, as there are at least three places where the journey is more than a half mile, including between Nos. 3 and 4, where you cross a rickety wooden bridge.
But course itself is solid. Challenging layout, good fairways. Greens were incredibly slow when we played, but willing to believe it was because heavy rain the night before prevented mowing in the morning.
Located next to Ormond airport and a couple flying schools, small planes flew close overhead constantly. Didn't bother me but may bother those who hate noise on the golf course.
Staff super friendly, helpful and nice. Clubhouse great with great dining room. Good value for the price. Located on mainland but short drive from the beaches.
DJ
Been playing this course for 15 years always in good shape, had been a couple of months since our last round. Course was not in a good of shape as usual several greens had bad patches throughout and tee boxes and fairways were full of weeds. Love the course hopefully they will not let it go.
Nice course
This course was super nice. I loved the layout. The starter put me with another person and he was a super nice guy. He had played there numerous times and helped me around the course. I was on vacation and couldn't have picked a better place to play, I will be back.
Very nice.
I love playing this course, however it is close to my home. I am just lucky in that regard because I would definitely travel to get here. It's hard to find the sixth tee but as long as you stay to the left of the fifth hole you can spot the sign easily. Have fun.
If your looking for an I exspensive course that's enjoyable then here ya go. Greens receive really well. By far coolest cart path ever as you ride through a safari type atmosphere from hole to hole. Will play here again.
Bad condition
Played this course for the first time and it was in horrible shape. I don't think they water it very much. I do not recommend this course at any price.
Very effective layout
Only down side was the inconsistency of the greens
