Wet
The course still wasn't completely recovered from Irma.Played extremely long because of the wet condition.Like the course.
Rough Around the Edges
After checking in I asked for the complimentary range balls that are listed in Golf Now as part of the fee. The person inside told me they no longer offered the balls and he went on to tell me how much it cost to pick the range. Suggested instead of not offering what was clearly advertised to fix the advertising. Pace.of play was slow and the starter wanted to put unscheduled groups ahead of ours. Tough day.
Good course to play
Course is always in good to very good shape. Staff is one of the best around. Price a good and food is always good.
Ok
Overall an acceptable course. The fairways were in decent shape though not as clearly defined as one would like. The greens also were in decent shape. The sand traps were not very sandy and quite compacted. There is no walking allowed on this course so one must ride. The cart paths need lots of attention . You will loosen some teeth from the ruts, bumps and drop offs at transitions from concrete to dirt along the cart path in several areas. There are also plenty of tree roots to jostle you around. Pay attention or things may bounce out of your cart . Several of the wooden bridges you will encounter are in dire need of repair or replacement . Be sure the brakes in your cart are good or you could be in for an unpleasant surprise going downhill, particularly on the bridge going over Airport Road . This you must cross twice and the brakes on the cart I used Nov. 10 were bad - I had to stomp them pretty hard to get braking on the downhills. There is one small pond fronting the only water hole, a short par three. It could be a really nice viewing par three except for the algae or whatever was on the waters surface. I’m not sure if the pond had a fountain, but I think it would’ve helped this situation immensely. I think this course would do well to maybe lower the weekday prices by $10 , generate more play and thereby more revenue and reinvest in itself by virtue of needed maintenance and repairs. Until then - it’s just another golf course....
Hit them long and straight my friends....peace...
The course is getting back to excellent shape
Theirs stil some holes that are soggy but for the most part its in good shape.
Nice Course, Great Staff, Great Value
Play Riverbend about 4-6 times per month. Always challenging. Great staff and a super value.
Local Gem
Always enjoy playing at River Bend ! Love the staff ! Love the layout of the course ! FUN !
Mother Nature's fault
Have played this course often, not their fault as it was very wet. Par 5 holes changed to par 3s. Disappointed yet still had fun. Overall we love Riverbend but will be waiting for course to dry out.
Hidden Gem
I love this course! Play whenever I get a chance! No houses around, just trees, vegetation, & golf course. Very serene! Free range balls w/round. Course in great shape!
A very playable course
Although there had been heavy rain recently, carts were not restricted from the fairway. There were a few damp areas but these had been marked as GUR, so posed no problems at all. Greens were in excellent condition and medium speed. A very playable layout which would suit both high and low handicap players. Staff were very welcoming and the food in the clubhouse was excellent. Course was so well liked that we played again two days later.
Great layout
Allthou the play was slow that day I've played this course many times. Great course friendly staff. A challenge for every grade of player.
