About
Bordering the Indian River, Viera East Golf Club sprawls across a landscape of sparkling blue lakes and native marshland that is accented with towering pines and cypress trees. The well known layout is considered one of the best and most affordable public golf courses in Florida. The course features large, undulating greens that are carefully protected by numerous bunkers and risk-reward opportunities that will challenge even the lowest handicappers. Although the course offers a fairly formidable test, beginners will be comforted by the wide fairways that have ample bailout room. Viera East Golf Club's eighth and ninth holes are a memorable duo, beginning with a short par 4 that is the best birdie opportunity on the course. The ninth is another par 4 with water all along the left and trees along the right. Both holes are made even more challenging with strategic bunkering along the greensides.

Overall very good but...
Construction going on. No hole #18, closed due to construction. A LONG way between tee boxes making walking imposible. No direction on how to get to next tee box. Due to rain a lot of standing water and muddy areas. Sand traps were not raked and very hard, many footprints in the dry areas. Greens were fast but true.

Hard to review course hard to play back nine twice due to construction. Will not play course until construction completed

BACK 9 ONLY
We were never told the pro shop and half the course is under construction, with no marshal on course some holes backed up 3 deep. I've played here many times and really like it, make sure you call before you book it!!

No bueno
Would have been nice to be alerted by Golfnow that the course was under major construction? Driving range closed, front nine closed, backed up to the point where our foursome quit! Took my money with nothing to show. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me! Will have to consider using your service in the future.

Wait until the construction is completed
They are working on the sprinkler system and driving range. Hole number one is closed and another is playing from 90 yards for all players.

Nothing special about Viera East
I’ve played Viera East once or twice a year for the past 5 or so years and I’d say it’s probably in the worst condition I’ve ever seen it.
The round started with a less than enthusiastic worker in the temporary Pro Shop - him and a computer only. Next came his instructions, start on hole #10, when you make the turn after 18; hole #1 is closed for repair so look for a path and just head to hole #2.
The layout is fun - pretty good variety. The greens are a mess with tons of weeds that affect putting. Hopefully they’ll correct that soon. I cannot recommend the course at this time.

Fun course

Major repairs
The course, club house & driving range is under major renovations so we had to play the back nine holes twice.

Construction on Course
New irritation system being put in so a lot of construction being done on a lot of holes. Many dry spots on fairways. Greens were good and rolled nicely. Driving range being redone. Staff very friendly and good grill with good food.
