Lakes/Sunrise at Spanish Trail Country Club
About
Opened in 1984, Spanish Trail Country Club is one of Las Vegas' oldest golf courses. The club offers 27 holes divided into three unique nines that are played in different 18-hole combinations. The entire golf course is filled with tree-lined fairways, undulating hills, and sparkling lakes but each nine offers a distinct environment. The Lakes/Sunrise Course is the shortest of the three combinations at 6,957 yards. The aptly named Lakes nine has water coming into play on six holes. Golfers should be prepared for several forced carries as well as water guarding the greensides on five holes. The fifth hole on the Sunrise nine was ranked as one of the toughest holes on the PGA Tour back in the late 80s when the club hosted the Las Vegas Invitational. The back nine also has plenty of water, most notably on its signature final hole, which features a scenic waterfall.

Nice Course/Needs Some Attention
This was not available in years past. Now Private with some tee times open to public. Nice Course but expect some issues when you arrive. The driving range is big but the tees are beat up and need work, a little disappointed in the tee at the range. There are coot issues with lots of coots; defecating all some of the tees that are around water on the lakes course. Clean your shoes prior to placing them in your car after the round. Greens in great shape, firm, don't hold really well, need a great shot to hold some of the greens. Pace of play not too bad. Over all pretty good for the money. I will go back.
Spanish Trails Canyon/Lake
Super awesome staff. Check in personnel and cart/rental club staff were awesome. Great rental clubs to use ( Callaway X2 Hot) Beautiful course that I would definitely play again. Thanks Golf Now for offering such a great deal.
Surprise for a country club
I was sent out to play with a threesome that had 2 sets of clubs and I was surprised that a country club would allow three people to play with 2 sets of clubs. With 2 sets of clubs the group played extremely slow and we were getting messages on our GPS to speed up and the three were oblivious to the requests to speed up. We played for 3 1/2 hours and finished 13 holes. I was surprised that a country club would allow slow play to continue for hours.
this is the golf winner
Great course fun to play. Lots of challenging holes but you can find your ball & hit it again.
I'll be back!
What a beautiful course. I have lived in Las Vegas for forty years and this was my first time...I'LL BE BACK!
Mike
Canyon is not over seeded and all but the greens and tee box are brown dead grass. Greens are great. Lakes was great.
Nice track
I played the canyons and lakes sides. Most people complain about the lack of over seeding on the canyons 9. Still plays fair and true and is in great shape. Lakes 9 is over seeded and a very nice side as well. Well worth the trip to play.
Spanish Trail Country Club
Booked through "Golfnow" and upon entering the proshop and stating my tee time, the staff told me that I would not be playing the course I paid for, explaining that there was a 30 min backup on that course. I stated that I wanted to play what I paid for and would wait the 30 extra minutes. As they called out our tee time over the loud speaker, we were told to go the course that we did not pay for. The course was in very good shape, and the greens had minimal pitch marks. However, the snack bar was not staffed and when we went inside to the bar to ask for beverages, they said we had to go to the snack bar....not sure how that was supposed to work. To top off the round, the pace of play was 5.5 hours (in January) when there were only three groups ahead of us. Little did we know that two of those groups had been playing the holes together. Oh, and the cart girls thoroughly enjoyed making inappropriate remarks as well as stating that they were drinking. Not the classiest of acts for a course held in high regards. For the money, I'll go back to TPC Las Vegas and TPC Summerlin.
Great country club course
Fun time, beautiful classic course. Lots of trees and water. Close to the Strip.
Nice course great value
Canyon grass was dead, greens soggy. Lakes was great.
Loved this course!
Awesome golf course! One of my favorites. Super friendly staff. Finished round in about 3.5 hours.
Beautiful day, great course!
I had heard a lot about this course and snuck out on a late afternoon with a great rate from GN! The course was in excellent shape and if things couldn't be nicer I had 2 eagles on the day and still didn't break par!??
There are 3 nines and I played the tougher of the 2, great elevation changes and the course was very plush! Staff couldn't have been nicer and it was very close to Mandalay Bay!
I recommend this track highly!!
Best course of my trip
First of all the staff was amazing and friendly especially considering that this is a Country Club with paying members to cater to. The Pro in the shop was more than accommodating when asked if I could go out earlier since I was a single. He also informed me of course conditions and tips to make my round more enjoyable. It was a bit cold during this time of year so I was pleasantly surprised to find that they had HOT apple cider available along with some whiskey to warm it up. I was lucky enough to be paired with a friendly guy and we were able to go out as a twosome. Pace of play was great as we finished in around 4 hours or less. If it wasn't for my desire to play "different" courses on my trip to Las Vegas I would have played here at least a few more times.
I guess if you pay with golf now.
The major problem I have is that, since I paid on golf now. They made us play the canyon course for the second 9 holes. The problem I have with this is, there are 27 holes on this course and canyon 9 is not being water like lakes ( we didn't play ) and sunrise which we played for first 9 holes. Everybody else played sunrise then lakes. We never seen a player on the canyon 9. I feel we got sent on that route because we paid on golf now.
Dont play Canyon
Canyon course was all dead grass. Lake side was very nice.
Needs some work
Greens on the Lakes course need some work. Bare patches, mostly around the edges. We did get a good rate at $35/player. Canyon 9 looked like the fairways were not overseeded. I would like to try it again.
40 minutes late to tee off
If members show up on a nice day, they are slotted in front of non-members tee times, like from golf now. We were 40 minutes waiting to tee off. The round took 5 hours and we had to skip two holes to make that. The Canyon course had not been over seeded. All in all, a very frustrating round of golf. Not on our list for the future.
Spanish Beauty
The course has 27 holes. Booked for a course I had already played, but the staff allowed us to start on the Sunrise course. Played Sunrise and Lakes. The courses are in great shape, pace of play was excellent, approximately 3.5 hours.
A must play
Great course and excellent conditions. Probably the best greens in Vegas.
Only down point was I had to play same nine twice due to a tournament was a little disappointing but a small discount was given which helped the situation. Would love to play it again.
