Desert Pines Golf Club
About
Desert Pines Golf Club is often referred to as "The Pinehurst" of Las Vegas. It offers a Carolina sandhills experience, yet is conveniently located just minutes from downtown or the Strip. This Dye design features thousands of mature pine trees lining the well-groomed fairways where white sand bunkers protect large, undulating, bent grass greens. Because of the large number of pine trees, often times this course is cooler than other courses in the heat of the summer. Although there are no forced carries, water comes into play on 9 of the 18 holes.

Negative response
We played this course today and we’re paired up with a regular player at the course that had some influence with the employees. Everything was ok with the round until hole number 9 when the course starter was also paired with us. These two “gentlemen” apparently have no idea about golf etiquette as they consistently took shots out of turn and walked over our lines on the greens multiple times. Instead of calling them out and causing a scene, we decided to pack up and leave after 11 holes. I would’ve really liked to see the entire course, but when the fun of the round has expired, we decided to call it quits rather than spend the rest of the round in an uncomfortable situation. The course was nice but it is apparent that the regulars on the course do want want “new” players experiencing their turf.
good mogal green, difficult to read.
Every things is very good except too many unfilled dimwitted fairway.
Do or Dye? A little bit of both!
Desert Pines is located center Las Vegas. Pete Dye is the credited designer and there are elements of his designs that are famous and are incorporated here.
The course is well known to locals. Green fees favor them over visitors, especially on weekends.
The practice facilities include a double-decker driving range and practice greens.
The course has some quirky holes; berms running through the middle of the fairways, large waste areas, green complexes close enough together that from the fairways give one wonder on which to play.
All that being said, I play this course annually. Staff is great. Pace of play is consistent. Course conditions for fairways and greens are good.
A quick transfer from the Strip, it is a good course to hone your game prior to tackling some of the big courses in town.
Unfortunate....
A "frost" delay for 20 min turned into 40 min, with my son and I following a group of three foursomes who decided to all play together. So a 20 minute wait on each box. Not fun, course nice but maintenance around greens and the greens needs to be improved.
Won't play there again.
Too cramped and crowded
We teed off last group on Fri in Nov. We would have only made it thru 13 holes, except we turned around and played the front again, so we made 16 holes, barely! No ranger, cuz I think it was so packed there's nothing they could do anyway. Challenging layout. Very short, thankfully, cuz it's narrow as h×××! Fairways in great shape, but many greens scarred and rough. B- for slow play
Nice Course
Played at Desert Pines on a nice day last week. The course was moderately easy and in relatively good condition overall. The greens were nice but the fairways had a lot of divot marks that weren't repaired. I'm guessing that the course gets a lot of play. There were some pitch marks on the greens that hadn't been repaired also. A nice course near downtown Las Vegas and a decent value at $79.
Greens condition good
Some greens had brown spots but not bad enough to impair ability to putt the ball. Did not even notice it on virtually all of them. Overall good conditions.
good experience
course was in good shape, tricky sloped greens, booked on Golf Now, was a good deal
GPS
It is to bad that gps isn’t included with your carts. I could not get my GolfNow app to recognize your course so it my round much harder.
Lost on course
Mad at GolfNow because the GPS would not work for our round. I could access the app for everything else except GPS. Whattup with that?
Nice course
Layout and design was really nice. Greens weren't as conditioned as they should be but playable. Started as a single and joined up with 2 other singles by the 6th hole. After that it was wait every shot for the 4 some ahead of us. There was no indication that they would ever let us play through even though we would pull up to them on almost every tee.
Nice Dye layout with golfing board
This track has plenty to offer! From long par 5s to strategic short par 4s and plenty of water on many holes. The course is in great shape except for a few stops on a few of the greens. I used a golfboard in lieu of a cart and had a blast getting around the track. A very nice view of the surrounding mountains. The staff was friendly and made me feel welcome. Plenty of water on the course and a beverage cart. Only negative was it took 4:45 minutes to play mainly on the back which has some difficult holes.
