About
One of the pioneers in Las Vegas golf, Painted Desert Golf Course is a 1987 Jay Morrish design has golfers shooting at targets in the desert.
Painted Desert has maintained its place in the Sin City golf community through all its changes by putting on an emphasis on course conditioning. Just because your greens are almost two decades old does not mean they cannot be in better shape than many of the new kids on the block.
The desert is the focus here, but Morrish also works in a few lakes as obstacles.
"This golf course is a very friendly layout and you can score here without having a feeling of imminent doom on every hole," John Scappatura said. "We are a bit off of the beaten path, which means that we almost always have availability for tee times. Everyone who does make the trip out here though appreciates our conditioning, the price, and the friendly atmosphere."

Great course
This course is in great condition fairways greens and bunkers. They have really nice sand in the bunkers. The greens are excellent and so are the fairways.

Never Again
By far the worst experience at a golf course in over 20 years of golfing. We pulled up to first tee and there is no starter anywhere so we tee off. As we do a group comes to the tee box and says that everyone is starting on hole 10 today. This was never told to us from the pro shop and like I said starter no where to be found. Ok not a huge deal pick up our balls and proceed to the tenth tee. We wait for group in front of us and play the hole. As we finish we notice that the next hole has 4 entire groups waiting on the next tee box. I call the pro shop and ask them to send a Marshall to figure out what is going on and they said they would send him right out. About 30 minutes later when we finally finish playing hole 2 I re call the pro shop to ask where the Marshall is and they say he is getting in the cart right now. Never once during this round did I see a Marshall or any staff trying to speed things up. This round was at 5 and a half hours when we finally decided to quit on 17. PLEASE do not play this course if this is how the course is going to be managed it does not deserve any business. They stacked a bunch of tee times out of pure greed then did not care how bad they screwed it up. I live 10 minutes from this course and there is no way I would ever play this course again.

The pace of play was horrible!
We arrived early for our tee time to be told there was a “surprise” tourney ahead of all games starting at 9 am. As a result of poor marshaling the tourney delayed our start and resulted in our game becoming so slow we quit after 9 holes. The starter and Marshall were not very sympathetic nor did they make any apparent effort to remedy the situation. The only way I would play here again is if they could guarantee a reasonable pace of play.

Cart path

Pace of play issues
Played on a Friday, cart path only due to overseeding. This was clearly noted so not a problem. The problem was with the foursome in front of us. Very slow, no ready golf, playing from the back tees. Never saw the marshals speak with them. 5+ hour round.

Terrible Conditions
The course is in terrible shape. Run down, same as last year. The golf carts have to be from the 90s and will hurt your back after 18 holes. Pace of play was horrible and to make matters worse, the group in front was drunk and acting stupid. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice and shame on me. There will not be a third time.

Greens and fairways a disaster
Nice layout and friendly staff but the greens and fairways are covered in fungus, physical damage and ball marks. The range balls look like they came from a dumpster. $100 for a non resident is stealing. What a shame.

Back 9 Only?
I couldn’t believe that they only had the back 9 only open without having some sort of notification on “Golf Now” giving us a heads up. The green fees were still the same as if the whole course was open. Not to mention, they didn’t book any differently so by the time we got to the back 9 for a 2nd time, it was really backed up with new groups. It was maddening.
