Painted Desert Golf Club
About
One of the pioneers in Las Vegas golf, Painted Desert Golf Course is a 1987 Jay Morrish design has golfers shooting at targets in the desert.
Painted Desert has maintained its place in the Sin City golf community through all its changes by putting on an emphasis on course conditioning. Just because your greens are almost two decades old does not mean they cannot be in better shape than many of the new kids on the block.
The desert is the focus here, but Morrish also works in a few lakes as obstacles.
"This golf course is a very friendly layout and you can score here without having a feeling of imminent doom on every hole," John Scappatura said. "We are a bit off of the beaten path, which means that we almost always have availability for tee times. Everyone who does make the trip out here though appreciates our conditioning, the price, and the friendly atmosphere."

Good Experience
I really love playing this course, has a moderate level of difficulty, but I found it annoying that when I booked they didn't mention that the greens were punched. Slightly annoying to book a course with punched greens and then pay full price. Other than that a great experience.
course wasn't as good as i expected. but over all was good. but sorry, i couldn't recommended to my friend to play,
Enjoyable Round
My wife wanted to get out and play on a Sunday afternoon. Painted Desert is near our house, so we decided to play there. We had an enjoyable round with just the two of us.
Pace of play is a really killer
Can’t be paying $65 to play a 5 hr round and have half your group quit early because the pace was not addressed.
Not worth it
Checked in at the cart barn to start. The cart given to me was full of trash in the ice box. No guidance from starter of what to expect specially playing this course first time...The fairway was OK...hardly any grass on it...Greens were better overall. Layout was good...the rest of the green was dirt and hard rock Desert .Just looked aweful. Par three that had divided tee box with some decent landscape and water around was the only highlight of this golf course in my opinion.
Golf is my passion and I've played great championship golf courses...public and private..this was one of worst kept golf course ..not playing here ever again. I even tried to give them business in the grill but the grill was closed when we finished golfing ⛳..Oh well!! I'm moving on to better golf courses worth playing and paying top price in Las Vegas
Affordable and relaxing.
Affordable and relaxing since the course isn’t overly challenging. Not long fairly generously sized greens only downside is there’s houses on the course other than that great value for money
Bataan Death March
Took 4 hours to play 12 holes. Fairways and greens are fine. “Rough” is dead due to a complete lack of any watering system outside the fairway.
Worst course in Vegas
For the price charged, you would think they would have a course Marshall run around every now and then to keep play moving. There is no excuse at all to allow play to stack up 3 groups to a hole by the 3rd hole and let that continue through the rest of the round for a 5 hour round. If negative numbers were an option for ratings, pace of play would be a -3. Course conditions were poor as well. Just off the fairways is almost just dirt with only a very little bit of scrappy grass for the first cut on most holes and most often you are chipping from dirt around the green. And finally, to see the cart girl only ONCE in a 5 hour round is completely ridiculous! The course us definitely not worth the money and I would not recommend it to anyone!
The course was in good condition, but pace of play was horrible. No marshall to speed things along. Took 4 hours and 50 minutes to play sixteen holes. We'd finally had enough and went in, there were still six groups ahead of us in last two holes. Saw drink cart on three and never again.
Greens need work
Grass is going a 1/2 inc h over cup. Bunkers full of rocks!
Disappointed
Course was in tough shape, very disappointed the rough was not over seeded, any shot rolling off the fairway rolled in to the desert, which caused the course to play very narrow. Much of the dormant grass was hard pack and mud. Was very disappointed overall.
Com’on Now!
Asked for the PACE MARSHAL 3 times still no one showed. Is it really that hard to send someone out there???
Tough course
We came down from the north for a weekend of golf. We played 111 holes in 3 days. I thought this course was the toghest both for the layout and the condition of the course. Fairways are narrow, and if you weren't on the fairway it played tough! Idk, I don't want to completely blame the course, but for the price there were other courses in better shape.
Fun course
The staff was friendly and the course had a good layout. The greens were fast but were in good shape. The fairways were in good but the rough was brown which might be normal during this type of the year in vegas. I would play at this course again if I’m in the area.
A Little Help Please?
Playing at 11:27am on a Saturday is not the best time, but a 5 hr round waiting on EVERY shot is brutal. So the Marshall drives the course, comes by 2-3 times and says nothing. What made it worse were the two guys ahead of us who teed off twice on almost every hole. Are 10’s ok? Of course they are but keep moving. This group never was ready on any shot and didn’t seem to care.
Sometimes we all need a kick or too- isn’t that the marshal’s key function?
Not going back for a while; ruined our day. Greens were very nice however, cudos to ground crew!
