Painted Desert Golf Club
About
One of the pioneers in Las Vegas golf, Painted Desert Golf Course is a 1987 Jay Morrish design has golfers shooting at targets in the desert.
Painted Desert has maintained its place in the Sin City golf community through all its changes by putting on an emphasis on course conditioning. Just because your greens are almost two decades old does not mean they cannot be in better shape than many of the new kids on the block.
The desert is the focus here, but Morrish also works in a few lakes as obstacles.
"This golf course is a very friendly layout and you can score here without having a feeling of imminent doom on every hole," John Scappatura said. "We are a bit off of the beaten path, which means that we almost always have availability for tee times. Everyone who does make the trip out here though appreciates our conditioning, the price, and the friendly atmosphere."

I actually birdied this short par 4 ... now my favorite hole! Photo submitted by Wally4 on 02/01/2013
Slow play
My son and I were paired up with another individual who added to our enjoyment as he was a local and advised us on the course. Only problem was that the starter started too many people in a short period of time which led to waiting on every hole from the 3rd and beyond. At times we had three teams playing the same hole with the team ahead of us having to wait to start until we arrived at the next hole. I would hope this is not the norm.
Nice course for a relaxing round.
Course is fairly simple and straightforward. Bunkers guard otherwise easy green access. Greens in excellant shape. Some fairways not quite up to the condition you would expect but this is due mainly to the types of grasses present. Would play again but would have to have a discounted special on the rates.
Great time.
They made room to play earlier even though we had a much later tee time. We actually slipped in as a two some with my wife & I. Pace of play was perfect for us as she is a beginner & not pressed from behind. Our cart had a low tire & the staff switched carts at the turn. Overall, a very fun/relaxing round of golf.
Very Nice to play
honest course..
No sandwiches in beverages om THE course
greens soft but uneven
Great scenery, narrow course, not forgiving but thé biggest beef was thé unrolled greens. Ball jumped.
would like to see more chipping area
no marshall so pace of play was slow and would like to see area for chipping etc
Great value!
I have played course three time in three years. It is always a pleasure. I will play it every time I am in Las Vegas.
great course
Party of 4 from England on holiday in Vegas. Made to feel very welcome from the minute we arrived. Staff were excellent and very friendly particularly course pro Chad. Food was excellent and golf also. Would definately recommend
Great course
I would play this every day. Greens great fairway good
Nice course but pace of play was horrible.
This was the first time I played this course based on the reviews that I read it sounded like a nice track. Upon arrival I walked in to the Pro Shop and after shopping and browsing for a few minutes I checked in. Check in process went smoothly and I was told the Starter outside would take care of me after I ate something in the Restaurant. After eating I looked for the Starter and after a few minutes found him. He seemed a bit disorganized and did not give me any direction as I stood around for at least five minutes waiting for him to tell me where to go. Having previous experience in the Golf Industry it would have been helpful had he provided me with a little more information as to what was going on and what to do. In my opinion, overall a good experience but the pace of play was over five hours because they had some kind of Tournament that a few regular groups like us were following and with no Marshals or Player Assistants out on the course to push the pace of play. That was unacceptable.
Course review
Course was in very good shape, pace of play was good, our foursome played in 4hrs. 15 min
Slow
Decent course, super slow, no beverage cart on a Saturday.
Fun Course!
Great value for money, interesting holes, in good shape.
Worth the drive
Had a 30 minute drive from south Vegas to play but it was worth it. Course was in great shape and well laid out.
A lot of sand traps and narrow fairways
County run course but this course was some what difficult. Would recommend this course if your in Las Vegas . Cant beat the price,
Painted Desert on a Windy Day
The course was in excellent shape as they had recently aerated. It was a windy day so it was fun trying to shape a shot, play with the wind or against it. All in all very satisfied with the course and the golf experience I had there this time. Have played it when I've visited Vegas in the past and will play it again in the future.
Great value for the money
Course was cart path only due to over seeding but for $20 how could you go wrong. As a 10 handicap the presented plenty of challenges which kept you on your toes. If you can hit the fairways you should be fine but stay out of the bunkers!!! They are deep!!! Pin placement was difficult on a couple holes but I would expect nothing less. Overall it's a course you should play
Nice Course
I liked everything about the day except the group in front of us. I realize that it was cart path only but when it is you should either have the physical ability to walk to the other side of the fairway at a reasonable pace or be able to put your shots within a reasonable distance of the cart path. Those types of things wreck a beautiful day for golf for everyone behind you , I mean everyone. I know this has nothing to do with the course but some people need to learn eticate while on the course. The course and facility were excellent.
Great Golf Experience
This course was in pristine condition and we had a fantastic experience. The staff was friendly and we will definitely be coming back on our next visit to Las Vegas! Thank you
Painted Desert
I always make a point to play this course when I travel to Vegas. I have been playing there since 1988. The course has a good layout for both low and high handicappers. They were drying out the course to prepare for over seeding so the course was not in its best shape. the greens were still in good shape. You will enjoy the views from this course.
