Painted Desert Golf Club
About
One of the pioneers in Las Vegas golf, Painted Desert Golf Course is a 1987 Jay Morrish design has golfers shooting at targets in the desert.
Painted Desert has maintained its place in the Sin City golf community through all its changes by putting on an emphasis on course conditioning. Just because your greens are almost two decades old does not mean they cannot be in better shape than many of the new kids on the block.
The desert is the focus here, but Morrish also works in a few lakes as obstacles.
"This golf course is a very friendly layout and you can score here without having a feeling of imminent doom on every hole," John Scappatura said. "We are a bit off of the beaten path, which means that we almost always have availability for tee times. Everyone who does make the trip out here though appreciates our conditioning, the price, and the friendly atmosphere."

Great Time at Painted Desert
I always enjoyed coming to Vegas to play Painted Desert. Very good greens. Fairways on front nine were good. Some holes on back nine, I realized that they were cutting to get ready for overseeding. Overall the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Will be back to play.
Not what I expected
After playing TPC Las Vegas, I was expecting a little better from this golf course. The course was in good shape a little wet a times and the greens were really soft. Don't think I will be playing here again!!
This course has great facilities and staff.
The greens were perfect not too fast but very manageable. Fairways plush and bunkers statically placed with deep lips. The yardage was accurate due to the large GPS screen in the carts.
Great club and course all around
Friendly, accommodating, and efficient from start to finish and in between even though it was hundred plus out. All around two thumbs up!!!
Great course to challenge you
I thoroughly enjoyed Painted Desert. Upon arrival, we were immediately greeted by a starter who took our clubs directly to our cart. He seemed to have been expecting us! There are three tee boxes, with the forward tees playing a bit over 5600 yards, plus a family tee measuring a bit over 3800 yards. I found the course conditions to be good fom tee to green. My only complaint is for the condition of the restrooms on course. I stopped at both. The Ladies room on the front 9 needed a good cleaning. More surprisingly, the ladies room on the back was locked forcing me to use the men's room. It needed a good cleaning and maintenance, traffic cone in urinal...really??
I played well and enjoyed the challenge, layout and vistas. It was a pleasant departure from Texas golf with mountain views and lush fairways. Enjoy your round!!!
Wow
One of the nicest courses I've played in Las Vegas!!
Great Course
The Course was in excellent condition despite Vegas heat in June. I would play their again.
Keep it in the short grass
Choose your spots wisely. Carry a rock wedge? On a good day I'm hitting two or three out of the dirt. Greens are sponge like but still roll pretty well. Soft greens and inconsiderate golfers left a lot of ball marks in the greens. Long putts you could see the ball bouncing if you didn't clear the line. Drink cart came around regularly. Pickup and drop off to your car. Matts on the range and no chipping green( bunker but no green).
A pleasant surprise in Vegas
We were very surprised at the course condition and interesting layout! Didn't know what to expect... the course not on the "places to play in Las Vegas" list. The restaurant and pro-shop people were very pleasant and helpful, and we really enjoyed the course! (... played the "Black" tees and the course was still short enough to enjoy without having to "come-out-of-your-shoes" off the tees) We'll come back!
A good track!
This course was a lot of fun. It had everything, water, sand, trees and rough to contend with. the only reason it didn't get all 5's is that the pace of play was terrible due to the fact we got put behind a group from a bachelor party. Oh well, it was still great and we will definitely play here again!!
Good course.... Not worth 35 bucks until they fix things
The greens were amazing! Well kept. The course had great challenges, but had playable lies almost everywhere. The staff treats you like a VIP. My biggest qualms were that there were quite a few spots on some of the fairways where the grass was non-exsistant and was as hard as rock. Also there were 3 holes where we could not even drive on the course, one of them was a wide par five. That was irritating.
Great course
Pulled into lot and had the cart pick me up right away. Course was in excellent condition and was very challenging
Great Course
The course was in great shape, the staff could not have been any friendlier.
Tournament went very well
Our nonprofit organization held a fundraising tournament here. The 56 golfers who came had great things to say about the beautiful condition of the course and helpful staff. Ryan Darland, the golf pro, and Tracy, who directs food & beverage, were extraordinarily accommodating, and went to great lengths to ensure things went smoothly for our guests. They clearly care about giving back to their community, and lead an incredible staff of hard-working, kind professionals. We are definitely doing another tournament here next year!
nice track
nice place for the money, and a good challenge sone of the best fairways yet
Very friendly staff
The course is nice but they had just punched the greens which didn't know till we reached first hole
Need new carts
Great course to escape the cavern courses for a day. Greens were the best I played all week. Fairways and tees were plush but needed cutting. First cut around the excellent traps were a little weathered. Overall an excellent value.
Nice course but a bit boring....
We played 3 courses in our recent trip and this was probably my least favourite, but not because there was anything really lacking. The course was in good shape, the staff were very friendly and the scenery was nice. But, the majority of the holes are all very similar - narrow fairways surrounded by traps and scrub with slightly elevated greens. I prefer a variety of holes, with changes in elevation, maybe some water carries and a dog leg or two. I'd recommend Angel Park over Painted Dessert, but only if you love rabbits!
The Staff couldn't care less.
This was my first time playing this course, I didn't bring my clubs with me this time, and was shacked the rental fee was more than I have been charge anywhere else. The G.P.S. in the carts didn't work and the seats were torn. The first two hole played at a decent pace, then everything came to a screeching halt. by the time we made the turn it was just under 3 hours. Groups were backing up on every hole. Someone in the group behind us went ahead came back and said there were only 3 groups in front of us then the course was wide open. He then called the clubhouse and the told him the front two groups were a bachelor party, and they would do nothing to speed them up...sorry. When we got in the clubhouse was locked up (there were still at least 3 groups behind us) and only the kids parking the carts were still there. several carts had also been left on the course because they died and the golfers walked in. I'll never go back to Painted Desert...they couldn't care less about you once they've got your money.
