Primm Valley Golf Club - Desert Course
About
Editor's Note: Course closed for business in 2024.
Primm Valley Golf Club boasts two championship courses designed by Tom Fazio. On the Desert Course, Fazio fully utilized the rugged landscape and scenic views offered by the mountains in the distance. Like many of his designs, the Desert Course blends seamlessly into the beautiful surroundings. It is a straightforward layout with no hidden tricks but there are several strategically placed bunkers lurking beside the undulating greens to provide some challenges. The golf course also requires a few tricky forced carries. The fairways are generous and offer some room for error, making the course more appealing to beginners. In addition to the two golf courses, Primm Valley also offers extensive practice facilities that include a double-ended driving range, target greens, practice putting greens, and chipping and pitching greens with sand bunkers.

Just reseeded
Nice greens Fairways very thin. Lots of mud balls. Lots of rain in the area.
Six holes in two hours
That is not a misprint. Six holes in two hours. I even picked up in the middle of the 7th fairway and drove ahead to try and find another spot where I could play at a better pace. There wasn't one, so I packed up my clubs and headed back to Las Vegas. Either every lousy golfer near the Nevada/California stateline was playing in a stroke-play tournament or the lack of a golf course marshal was totally evident. This was a major disappointment.
Nice Layout but.......
Here's the thing..... The layout is fun, challenging. But, if you're a serious golfer, the greens need to be stroke-able. Unfortunately, they've had some issues and are unable to have the greens at the speeds they would probably like. They are too slow for anything more than recreational (don't get your hopes too high.....) type of play. Everything else is first class.
Big Fazio fan, great layout
Staff should put 2-somes together, about 4-5 in a row which just isn't right. No drinking water or rangers on course. But for the price and quality of the course, very good.
Very interesting layout and tougher than the slope rating.
Hole played about one club to two clubs longer as the greens were elevated. Greens are undulated and were quite slow at this time. Highly recommend the course.
Couse Was in Good Shape
Course good shape. There was no water or beverage service on the course which in the middle of August was a challenge.
This course plays well for the players who hit a fad great layout
I found the course to be in great condition, staff was friendly and helpful
Great way to play 36
Played Aug 10th. Weather was awesome 99 with slight breeze. Played the Desert course at 9AM. Course was is excellent shape, especially for late summer. Tee boxes green and smooth, Fairways lush, rough fair and greens smooth and average speeds. If I had any complaints I guess the bunkers could have been better maintained. Finished in just under 4 hours so decided to have lunch and played the Lakes course afterwards. Lakes was in just as good of shape as Desert course. With a 2PM teetime though pace of play was great (3 1/2 hours) but no beverage cart since we were one of probably only 6 groups on the course at that time. We were warned and stocked up on waters by the cart attendants and again at the turn. Experience was so good that we will probably return next week for another 36 holes.
only played 12 holes
At check in, I told the counter person that I was handicapped. He said he would make some adjustments in the GPS system to allow me to get closer to the greens. No less than 8 times a message from the clubhouse popped up notifying me that I was somewhere I shouldn't be or on a cart path only hole. The important factor is that I rarely take advantage of the handicap.
At the turn, I stopped by the clubhouse to let them know. He dismissed it as no big deal. I seemed as if someone was playing games. It is difficult to get yardages with messages popping up.
With 2 more messages by the 12 hole, I was fuming. I left.
I have to assume that PAR4 is not handicap friendly.
Spectacular
Magnificent course on the California side just before the Nevada border on Hwy I-15. A real WOW experience.
Nice value for high end course
Mid summer in Las Vegas. Certainly well maintained during the stress of the heat. Greens speed was well below peak season. Understandable.
Pace of play was great! Needs water to drink!
From the bag drop to check-in to driving range to teeing off, what a great experience. The course was is very good shape; a couple of the greens needed some attention, but they putted true, flat, and fast!
The course is not "difficult" but it helps if you read the GPS in the cart as to where you need to place your tee shots and approaches.
My ONLY complaint was that there are no water jugs where you can fill up your water bottle in-between the cart girl's visits -- she visited twice on the front 9 and told us she was going home and wouldn't see us on the back 9. That was not "cool"; it was 100+ and we needed to fill up on the back 9. Primm Valley, you need to fix that.
We've played both the Desert and Lakes courses here and we will be back next time we're in town!
If you have the chance, play either of these courses -- you won't be disappointed!
Awesome facility w/ unlimited range balls!!!!
Great practice facilities, my son and I practiced our bunker shots, chipping and of course unlimited range balls before our round of golf...the only negative about the course is that there are no water drinking station and the cart service ends early, so when it is over 100°F the last holes become miserable!!!
what a deal for this great coarse
great staff. played here many times and never disappointed. hardly saw anybody while we played and that was on a sat!
this is must play in the vegas area. great layout and condition
if your in vegas looking for something new, primm is the place to go. wonderful layout in great condition. a cousre you could play everday and not get tired of.
prime in primm
Course is in great shape. One problem I had was all the golfers before me must of hit all the sand out of the bunkers. Had to pick it. Everything else was great.
This course has great view, features, beautiful and clean
This course is equipped with shower to freshen up yourself after great rounds of golf, equipped with cooler full of ice and bottle of water to quench yourself while golfing. Very friendly staff and worth the money, very lovely scenic and enviornment w
outstanding
the course was in perfect condition and the staff was very helpfull
Two thumbs up!
My family always play here before we arrive to Las Vegas.
We played the Desert course and it's superbly maintained. Great value for the money!
This course is quiet and away from it all, relaxing.
I was pleased with everything and every one except, the lady working in the lounge. After golf we went into the lounge to have a quick beer before hitting the road back to Vegas. We sat at a table for awhile but no one waited on us. So I went up to the bar and was standing right in front of the lady bartender and she did not acknowledge me. I know she was pouring a pitcher of beer for someone but she could have at least said hi, I'll be right with you. She did nothing so I just told my brother let's go I guess she doesn't want to serve us or she's too busy. There were two tables with customers and two people on the bar plus my brother and I. I thought she was very rude.
