The Brigantine/Clipper Course at Shipyard Golf Club combines two of the three nine-hole golf courses on the property for one of the more challenging tests on Hilton Head. Brigantine/Clipper has a rating of 73.5, with a slope of 135 from the championship tees.
Designed by Willard Byrd and built in 1982, alligators sun themselves along the scenic, water hazard-filled Brigantine nine holes. With slight doglegs and well-placed bunkers, this golf course requires shot making and a good short game.
With plenty of sand and water hazards, Clipper may be the most difficult of the nines. This George Cobb design requires a good long game and a soft touch around the greens.

Great for a quick round.
The course was in good condition, and the staff is very friendly. Pace of play was great. I got my round in under 3 hours and 15 minutes. That was with playing two balls on some holes for the heck of it.

The front nine was in very poor shape. Poor fairways with spotty grass on tees and fairway.Greens were pretty good
Back mine was in better shape but for 100 it was way overpriced for the condition of the course

It’s OK
The course is just OK. The greens were really hard. I hit the ball high and never left a mark. Aeration is scheduled in a couple of weeks. That should probably help. Green surrounds need work.

Fun challenging course w three 9s. Most greens were in good shape, Couple Clipper greens needed some TLC. Would definitely play again
