The Brigantine/Clipper Course at Shipyard Golf Club combines two of the three nine-hole golf courses on the property for one of the more challenging tests on Hilton Head. Brigantine/Clipper has a rating of 73.5, with a slope of 135 from the championship tees.
Designed by Willard Byrd and built in 1982, alligators sun themselves along the scenic, water hazard-filled Brigantine nine holes. With slight doglegs and well-placed bunkers, this golf course requires shot making and a good short game.
With plenty of sand and water hazards, Clipper may be the most difficult of the nines. This George Cobb design requires a good long game and a soft touch around the greens.

Shipyard Golf
Good course, reasonably priced. NO driving range because the picker wasn’t working. Except that the picker was out picking up balls. Hmm. Greens were really nice and good bunkers. Fairways are a bit tough though. Very thin grass.

Most of the tee box and fairways are in good condition. Fringes and greens could use some improvements. Most of the playing areas are very firm.
They do have a food and beverage cart working the courses..check plus for that

Great Experience
First time playing the Shipyard courses. Played as part of a foursome twice this week, both times at noon. Checkin staff was friendly and helpful, got on the course with no issues, and enjoyed the gold. Course was in good shape and challenging. Nice mixture of holes. Staff at the Brickyard were great. Overall, great time. Will be back next year.

All my golf experiences during a months long stay at Shipyard Plantation were great. Challenging alternative course layouts to play from. Good pace of play. Super golf staff all around from bag drop & starter through the inside pro shop. Very easy, enjoyable golf.

nice design, different shots required. Hilton Head courses have a tough time in March as it's just breaking out of a long cool spell, but they've done as good as possible.

Great value!
Always enjoy Shipyard, staff is super welcoming. Course was in excellent shape. Only concern was we were on 13th hole when a pretty severe thunderstorm hit suddenly and Shipyard has no lightning detection system. No alarm, we had to figure out for ourselves wether to continue or not( we didn’t ). I thought these were standard for all golf courses.
I’d like to add, even though it was fairly crowded, pace of play was good. Never waited on any hole.
