The Brigantine/Clipper Course at Shipyard Golf Club combines two of the three nine-hole golf courses on the property for one of the more challenging tests on Hilton Head. Brigantine/Clipper has a rating of 73.5, with a slope of 135 from the championship tees.

Designed by Willard Byrd and built in 1982, alligators sun themselves along the scenic, water hazard-filled Brigantine nine holes. With slight doglegs and well-placed bunkers, this golf course requires shot making and a good short game.

With plenty of sand and water hazards, Clipper may be the most difficult of the nines. This George Cobb design requires a good long game and a soft touch around the greens.

Lots of Alligators

This was the first time my boyfriend and I had played at this golf course. There weren't many people out playing the day we went which was great so we got to take our time around the course. We saw a bunch of alligators which was awesome. We went to the bar and the bartender made us some fantastic drinks.

We definitely can't wait to go back again.

Dont hit out of greenside bunkers

I enjoyed the layout. Greens were relatively good. Fairways in good condition. Somehow on the turn we came up on a geoup we hadnt seen before. It looked like they had more than 4. Luckily the folks I played with took me to the members 9. That was in great shape and we finished timely. My biggest issue is when I hit out of my first trap I about broke my club. 2 inches below the sand was rock. I tested 2 others by digging that I hit into with the same result. It is not worth breaking a club over. They need to provide a warning. Under 2023 guidelines you get free relief from rocks and roots. Take a drop. The new rule is to protect you and your equipment.
