Golden Bear Golf Club at Indigo Run

The fairways were cut high so there wasn’t any roll on the ball This course just wasn’t as nice as I remembered b some gnarly places throughout! Cart paths were rough broken in a lot of places

This course was recommended by a friend who played it a few years ago. Was a little surprised that the pro shop staff insisted on keeping one of my buddies credit cards (he rented clubs) while we played. They had already run the card for his fees. Of course, he forgot to pick it up when we were done and had to drive back to get it later. Starter talked up how great the course was, but we were not impressed. Lack of beverage cart service (saw it twice on a 93 degree day), cart paths are in serious need of repair, greens and fairways just OK. Had to pay for range after paying $150+ to play. We played 2 other courses while in HH and both were better in every respect. Would not return.

Great layout but there was no rangers to monitor the flow groups throughout the course. This was a five hour round which is tough during the summer months. Will play again but when it’s cooler.

Upon arrival, the attendant and pro shop were welcoming. The range is across the street and was in decent shape. We were able to start a few minutes in advance and were told about several groups that were scrambling in front of us with members behind us. The real issue became pace of play about 6 holes into the round. A marshal came out once and it helped the last group catch up but at one point, we had 5 groups on the same hole and that congestion was never addressed. Really took some of the enjoyment away with the heat of the afternoon.

Great course! Played with my son who hasn’t golfed much. Played at 4 pm and had a great time. No rush from other golfers and able to take our time. Staff was incredible.

The greens were irritated a couple weeks ago and not quite back. But understand the need for maintenance so giving them a pass. That being said, I found many of the fairways were not up to expectations, quite a few bare spots. And some of the tee boxes need some improvements. Just seems like the overall conditions have gone down from prior rounds I’ve played there.

Conditions were not the greatest in places, not much grass. But overall great place to play, although I was asked to give up my cart to ride with another gentleman Inwas paired with. He was a good partner, but didn’t appreciate the forced partnering.

Excellent. I actually hit every club in the bag and these greens were perfect! Dog legs left and right and beautiful rewarding holes when the ball is positioned. Pace of play is as very slow BUT the Ranger actually moved a group forward a couple of holes and sped pace of play quickly. Great day great time this course is a definite play when on the island. Loved it!

This is the way a Bermuda course should be done. I played it Monday and had to go back and play it again on Thursday before I left. The Golden Bear has earned its spot in my Hilton Head vacation course line-up. The bar and grill are pretty basic.

Overall, I thought that the Golden Bear was a bit challenging. A GPS system in the golf carts would be very beneficial...especially for the price to play!

We’ve played here for over 30yr coming to our timeshare at Shelter Cove. Pace of play here might change our decision going forward. Three groups of friends playing in front of us were horribly slow and were not taught golf manners..let faster players (2 of us playing front tees) vs them playing blue tees (should have been playing one or two tee markers up), when the hole in front of them is open, if you hit from the sand, use the rakes to level ball and footprints, do not ride the golf cart up next to the green, when a sign says cart path only, don’t drive your cart on the restricted area, play ready golf, and line up your putt while others are putting!! I know it’s resort golf at its best, but geez…,
