A Gem
This was my first time playing this Jack Nicklaus designed course. It is a hidden gem on Hilton Head Island. The course is in great shape. The tee boxes, fairways, bunkers and greens are in terrific shape. It was a pleasure playing this course.

Fun course
From the red/green tees, the course was fun for those of us who don’t kill the ball and there were not many holes where we had to hit over large bodies of water. The greens were not great but the rest of the course was in good shape

great staff

As advertised.
Layout in great shape. Pace of play was pretty slow. As advertised, many holes require something other than driver from the tee box. Facilities are nice, but range balls were an extra cost. Had to wait a while to get a golf cart because they were out and had to wait for some to return, so warm up time was impacted.
It was a really fun day, but I will play from back tee’s next time (and I am a 19hcp) because i like to be able to hit driver off the tee most of the time and this can get you into big trouble here.

Nice Course - We'll Return
We have always liked Golden Bear. It's a great layout and a bit of a challenge. We played in gusty winds that made it tougher. Disappointed a bit with the condition of the fairways, they were sparse in quite a few places and bare lies in the middle of some. As usual greens in great shape and putted well. We'll return as county resident frequently.

I know it is the south, but they must do something about the sand fleas at the practice range. Couldnt finish the whole bucket they were so bad
