The Lakes Country Club

About
The Lakes Country Club sprawls across acres of lush North Carolina countryside, offering a glimpse of the wildlife and vegetation that is unique to Boiling Springs Lakes. Being the oldest golf course in Brunswick County, it has become a local favorite over the years. The course is a manageable 6,700 yards from the tips, making it approachable enough for less experienced players. While it is not the most formidable challenge it is enjoyable for a range of skill levels. As the golf course's name would imply, there are numerous lakes that come into play often, especially on the front nine. There are also strategically placed bunkers throughout. The Lakes C.C. is popular for being not only a player-friendly, well maintained golf course but also being one of the best values in the area.

Fun day at the Lakes
Lack of rain is apparent on the fairways but hopefully some rain will help. The greens were smooth and putts rolled smoothly.
Our group finished the round in 3-1/2 hours.
The new clubhouse is nice and is a great improvement!
Good things to come!!!
With the new owner and staff, I think this place is a hidden gem. The staff and owners were very friendly and the price was fantastic. Give them a year and this course will be a favorite.
Fairways need water
Good course, greindly staff, greens are fairly good but fairways are barren.
Okay for what I paid
The course was okay for what I paid. The greens and fairways could use some work. Since I live in The Villages, FL I'm spoiled our courses are in much better shape.
charles conradi
IT is a golf couse that is transition i believe it has new ownership course has a lot of dog leg holes it usaually goes for $40.00 a round with cart A great course to get practice rounds in, Everyone is very cordial and friendly
Course is OK but starter/ranger isn’t
Starter put me with a trio of guys consisting of 2 newbies and one visitor that hasn’t touched clubs on many months. Later the starter comes up and tells us to speed up because we are “holding up the entire course” (3 singles had shipped a hole to go around us). In fact there wasn’t a single golfer behind us. Our guess is that one of the singles was his buddy and he complained about it. First, we did complete the round in 4 hours, while the trio managed to lose several dozen balls. Second, the trio would have been faster without a fourth player on a different tree box (me). Third, the singles behind us could have been grouped together and I could have joined one of them.
Sunday golf
Greens were pretty good. Fairways were ok. There is lots of sand all over the course in places you wouldn't expect i.e. in or adjacent to fairways, not actual sand traps. Not a lot of water, but the holes are long. Ibthinknit is a good value and the staff is very friendly. The new clubhouse is fantastic compared to the old.
Lost my Tee Time
Scheduled a Tee time for 4 a few days in advance via the golf now app. Unfortunately had to cancel one person due to ongoing issues but still planned on playing with three. On the morning of, us 3 show up to check in (all be it literally one minute late) and the guy upfront claims to only have us down for two golfers, and that another twosome has checked in for that time so only two of us can play. This makes no sense as the tee time I still had set is for three people. Upset and frustrated, my two friends just leave but I decided to stay and tough it out due to the 45 minute drive. When the starter called my tee time I approached by myself and no one else stepped forward. The starter said “hold on we’re waiting for a twosome”, he then proceeded to ask literally every soul out there if this was their tee time and all said no. The twosome he was looking for were my two buddies who left, there was no twosome already checked in for that time. So either the guy upfront made up the story of a twosome already being there or just made a mistake. The worst part is that my golf now app still shows the three person tee time booked for that time. I informed the starter of the situation and he said “sorry but we’re too booked up to wait for them to come back, you’ll just need to go.” Absolutely ridiculous, I eventually got paired up with a twosome who’s tee time was 30 minutes after mine. I understand pushing us back due to arriving a minute or two late, but this is a totally different story. The man’s negligence from the front desk ruined my golf outing with friends and put a very bad taste in my mouth for this place. This was my first time at The Lakes and will probably be my last. Would much rather spend my money at a course that is in much better shape for essentially the same price and best of all, DOESN'T LOSE YOUR TEE TIME. The worst part is that I still have the literal proof on my Golf Now app and bank account showing the convenience fee being deducted for setting it up.

This course has new clubhouse
Beautiful new clubhouse, now they need to put money into the course. Greens were awful.
Lost my Tee Time
Made a tee time for 3 people, we get there to check in and the man up front tried to say we only booked for 2 and that another twosome is here for the same tee time. Upset, my 2 buddies decide to just leave and I stay to stick it out because of the 45 minute drive. I approach the tee box, starter calls out our time and I go up by myself. The starter tells me we are waiting for 2 more. He then asks literally everyone there if this is their tee time, everyone says no. I tell him about what happened at check in and that the twosome we are waiting was my two friends but the guy upfront said only two can play so they left, I offered to wait for them to come back so we can still play but the starter said “we’re too booked up. You’ll need to just go”. What drives me crazy is that I still have literal proof that the tee time was for me and my two buddies just for the guy upfront at check in to either make a mistake or make up a story. Absolutely ridiculous. Highly suggest visiting other golf courses near by that are the same-similar price for a course in much greater condition and best of all WONT LOSE YOUR TEE TIME. Golf outing with friends got totally ruined and will probably never come back. This was my first experience here by the way as well folks!
