Oak Creek Golf Club

About
Oak Creek Golf Course in Irvine boasts a course designed by Tom Fazio, who has been hailed as the best modern-day course architect. The layout features tapered fairways and multi-tiered greens that roll perfectly. Several sparkling lakes dot the lush greens landscape as well as a few mature eucalyptus trees, though the course is mostly open. The bulk of the challenges of this golf course are comprised of the bull-nosed carved bunkers that are strategically placed throughout. Vivid vegetation accentuates the course and the city gets more than 300 days of sunshine a year, providing the perfect setting for a round. Oak Creek Golf Course is also popular for its practice facility, which includes 65 natural turf tees, a nine-acre all-terrain landing area, two putting greens, and a large practice bunker. It is one of the most popular practice facilities in southern California.

Oak Creek After Pelican Hill
Great course, great layout. Played behind UC Irvine golf team and they let me play through as a single.
Solid deal when you can find it
Was stoked to find out the greens were punched recently, because it drops the rate down to where it's palatable. Normally I wouldn't play this course except super twilight as it's too pricey.
I looped the front nine twice in under two hours and barely saw a soul.
Punched Greens
One of the best courses in Orange County, I paid a reduce rate for what I'm assuming was the recent punching of the greens. In addition, several of the greens are undergoing maintenance on the fringe, which are heavily sanded. While this detracted from the normal putting experience and play around the greens, my round at Oak Creek was enjoyable.
I enjoy layout out of this course, which offers beautiful views free of traffic, homes, and other distractions. You truly feel out in nature when playing this course, away from everything. However, a construction project, adjacent to the back half of the course has removed several trees, which changes the scenery. I'll assume that this will all be corrected at the conclusion of the outside construction project.
Normally, the greens run true and are beautiful to putt, and I look forward to coming back out when they recover from their needed maintenance. The course is a pleasure to play and the staff are first rate, friendly, and professional, really adding to the overall experience.
Playing Oak Creek makes me feel like I'm a member of a country club, and I will be back to play again soon!
had a fine time
All aspects of this course were extremely enjoyable, including the practice facility. The only negative was waiting for the foursome of two men and women in front of us. A 3 1/2 hour round for our threesome went to a typical 4 1/2 hour round.
This course was clearly a step above the usual public courses in the OC area.
Tee boxes, greens, fairways were wonderful to play on and the sand traps were challenging but fair.
Compact without being cramped
It seems Tom Fazio was asked to do at Oak Creek what he did at Shadow Creek, albeit on a somewhat less ambitious scale. And he seems to have mostly succeeded in making the golfer forget he is playing on a smallish piece of land in a semi-industrial setting. Despite the size of the tract, the holes feel well separated by manmade mounds and berms, and firm fairways make for a good number of fun and strategic shots. It's high pre-Recession architecture, but an above-average example of it.
Oak Creek's top green fee of $180 is a bit shocking, but not surprising given its upscale feel and location in the middle of Orange County, California. While I don't know how enthusiastically I'd pay rack rate, I do think the Twilight fee of $95 is a pretty good deal, and the fellow Millennials I was paired with seemed to agree.
Really nice!
A really nice layout. Fairways and greens were in good condition. A good value at $98 for Orange County. Beautiful facility, nice restaurant for lunch.
Great course
Best course around for the price only at twilight you pay the price in the morning but you get good pace of play well worth mental health. Starters and staff are A+
Nice course but not worth $180
The course was nice but was not worth the $180 green fee. The greens themselves were just ok. There were fans running on many of the greens during play and was quite loud. The grounds keepers were mowing and cleaning during play. The 18th tee box was being redone so you had to hit from the fairway. My GPS stopped working on the 10th. The fairways were in good shape and the beverage cart was visiting us regularly. It was definitely a nice $75 round of golf.
No.18 Under Construction
Pretty fair conditions but whole teeing ground of 18th hole is under construction so it plays par 4 with temporary teeing ground in the fair ways. Not bad pace of play teeing off at 11:06.
Ridiculously Slow
Had us tee off on the back, took 2.5 hours for 9 holes on a Wednesday at 10:30 AM. 4 groups backed up on 17, just ridiculous, no marshalling of the course. I left after 9 holes, could not take it.
Top of my List
Staff friendliness was a ten from bag drop to after round drinks, all were great. First time I played here, I needed to pay more attention to sand and water could have play better. Course layout was great with alot of bunkers and a few lakes and stream to deal with. Greens and fairways were in excellent condition. Greens were running true with our group draining a few long putts and a couple from the fringe. Really enjoyed my round here, will back soon.
Although the Greens were mechanically fertilized they were rolled and cut and Putts were perfect rollers. Just about 2% Slower.
Oak Creek
Good course and thank goodness no houses around it. Gives it an out in the country feel. Good round here.
