Great course
The course was very wet but what a beautiful layout! Sis in the pro shop is a real sweetheart!
Fun but no reservation
Thank you Shenvalee for working us in but there was me and another guy who booked a 12:40 reservation on a Hot Deal that did not get reserved at the course. It made a very booked course but still had fun.
Fun course for all, excellent for beginners and kids
I've played this course probably 30 times, and it's fun for all handicaps. It's a pretty relaxed atmosphere and I love taking my kids there. It's easy to walk and is short, but there are some excellent views of the mountains, particularly on the Miller 9, and the course is always in pretty good shape. Placement is key for a longer hitter on this course, because you never need more than about 230 off the tee to set yourself up for an approach. Most of the Par 5's are reachable in 2, but the par 3's are a good challenge, none are too short.
The range was recently redone to provide mats when its wet, and the sports bar has decent food at reasonable prices.
If you want a tour level challenge, go somewhere else, but if you have a group of friends who range in ability and you want a place to have fun playing, or want to go out with your less experienced family, this is a great option with 3 9's to keep you interested.
Great value for the money
Book your tee time online through golf now instead of booking through the pro shop. Was able to get a hot deal for $13. What a steal. Only problem I have with the course is that the golf carts are extremely old. Very uncomfortable and slow. This course is a hidden gem. Always in good condition.
Great!
Considering all the rain we’ve had the course was in excellent condition. Greens and fairways were superb, but the rough had quite a bit of water.
There was a tournament and many vacationers playing, so the pace of play was extremely slow especially the front nine.
At the turn the ranger directed us to a different course to avoid getting behind a tourney group. That sped up out pace of play greatly.
Rangers were continually monitoring play to keep the pace as good as possible. Staff was extremely helpful and pleasant as usual. The Miller Grille serves excellent food with a great staff as well.
Note: for those not familiar with this course there are 27 holes: Olde Course, Miller and Creek.
Fun
This is a very fun layout and I can see it being more enjoyable the next time we play it. It was a very wet round after heavy rain and was cart path only so that took from the round.
Great Staff
The staff is always glad to see you play here. From the check in with Sis to the starters. The course has been deluged with rain this summer and the ground crew is working to get it back to top shape. Great value for the money.
Shenvalee Review
We have played this course several times but the rooms were empty. With the motel only 1/3 full you would think they would offer a special stay and play week day rate as they have in the past. We therefore stayed off site and booked through GolfNow. The course is always nice and well kept.
Nice Crouse but
The Crouse it self in nice good lay out but pace of play was very very slow . Will not return to play even though I like the the Crouse it self took me 2 hours and 15 min to get the first nine in and had two groups of 4 in front of to start 2nd nine n I was playing alone so didn't even try to play last nine for no one would let you play though and it would of took me 3 hrs to play 2nd nine at this pace.
Saw an eagle
This day was an anomaly. There was a tournament going on and there was two of us playing so we caught up to the pack and had to wait through 7 holes. This is not typical. We played the creek and miller.and the course played well. With recent thunder storms there are some spots in the fairways where you can’t drive but everything is still very accessible. All 3 courses are laid out well and have very few blind shots.
Open range
Living in the heart of the Shannondoah Valley one has to contend with a lot of trees when playing golf. This course is one of the more open courses in my area. An errant drive does not result in a loss ball and a possible shot at the Green in most cases. Once on the greens they are fairly flat without a lot of levels and easy to putt. This is a really good course for someone beginning golf and can be challenging enough for advanced players. I enjoyed all three courses but the old is more open and flatter than the Miller in creek. The fairways are kept low and even in the rough it’s very playable.
Shenvalee
Local course I've played many times. Surprised at dry conditions today considering amount of recent rains. Always a fun course with Great views of the mountains.
Love the layout.
I played the Miller and the Olde courses. They were in good shape, beautiful scenery, and pleasant to play.
Would have been good
Unfortunately I booked my tee time just after a tournament finished. Very slow as I was behind some real duffers. But not the courses fault. I will be back. A good course for those who can't hit 300 yard drives.
Great layout
The golf course had some really great views of the mountains. Elevation changes added character and challenges. will definitely come back again.
Great
Love playing there. Try to play once a week course is really green
CHALLENGING FOR THE 1ST TIME
I played as a single and was behind 2 foursomes. Had to wait a little. A number of blind shots that would require an individual to play with someone who knows the course or play a 2nd time. I played to a 14 hcp, so I really can't complain. Rough was deep due to pretty wet weather lately, however, that being said the greens were good. Just a little slow. All in all it was a fun round and would definitely recommend it to my friends.
