About
River Run Golf Links is a municipal course owned by the city of Bradenton. Unlike many others in the area, golfers won't have to worry about hitting homes on this non-residential course. The layout is player friendly enough for all skill levels to enjoy but it's also a fair test that is anything but boring. The two nines are referred to as the River Nine, the front, and the Pirate nine. The golf course is mostly straightforward and a pleasure to walk, although there are carts available. Ancient oak trees draped with Spanish moss provide shade and scenery throughout the course. Water has a prominent presence, coming into play on almost every hole. Some of the holes are tight and can be quite challenging but beginners can still approach River Run Golf Links with confidence.

Golfer Reviews
Hard but Fair
The course is in good shape. Enough of a challenge for most golfers
Too Many Players Off Back 9
Course in good shape, got off early on Sat, one of the first few tee times, good pace, then hit the back 9! I realize they send groups off for 9 holes in the AM, BUT, when we got to #13, I could count at least 7-8 groups ahead of us (and 1 behind us), that had started on the back & they were SLOW. Took approx. extra 30 mins to play last few holes.
The course is being maintained to a very high Standard
I have not played the course in a couple of years, I am very glad I revisited. Every accept of the course was.a pleasant expirence. I will be back
Hot and soggy
I like this course a lot. That's why I'll drive 20 minutes to get here (in the summer) I was warned when I checked in about the soggy conditions and cart path-only rule due to the excessive rain they had that night. Simple... make my plays near the cart path, right? NOT! Walking in a 95* humid day to get to the other side was indeed hard to take. I do understand why, but geeze. I lost 2 lbs that day. Maybe I should golf every day? :>)
Another good evening of golf at River Run
Just played nine holes with my wife. The course has taken on a lot of rain over the past week. Tee boxes and greens are in very good shape. Fairway just a little over grown because of the rain. Played 90° today & were still able to get in nine holes with cloudy skies with a cool wind in an hour and 40 minutes. Will definitely play here again. Great value!
Course condition excellent
Course is in great shape A couple of greens were rough looks like accidentally damaged somehow Tee boxes and fairways real nice An injoyable round of golf. Will definitely be back soon
This course is mid at best.
This tee time was terrible. While I wanted to play a moderately fast paced game with my wife, I was immediately paired with another pair. We were instantly rushed and told there were several teams behind us and hundred playing this morning. The course appeared beautiful, but there were more swampy and rutted out areas than most other courses in the area. I expected bugs, but they were worse on this course than any other course I played this week. Based on course quality and being rushed by impolite staff from the beginning of our run, I would absolutely not play this course again. There are too many courses in this area to deal with bad experiences.
Great course for the money.
Played on a Sunday morning. Course is in good shape, 1 green needs some help. For a city Course it is well maintained and staffed. The. Course is one that should not be taken for granted. Birdies can be made so can double. I will definitely play it again.
River run
The starter was a grumpy old man. Only other negative is, it’s 100 out and you can’t bring a small cooler for yourself.
Great golf for the money
Had a great day. Course was in good shape. Always a fair challenge. I had to mark it down for pace of play, in fairness, it was just a few groups. I will definitely play again.
Bad Day
2some paired up with another 2, they were nice. Greens in great shape, fairways thin, bunkers ok (except for not being raked by previous groups). 4some in front had a couple guys who could hit it ok, BUT they had 1 playing up tees and instead of letting him go ahead (never saw him hit it more than 100 yds) they would wait until the group ahead was about 300 or more yards out before they would even think about teeing off., then we'd have to wait for the up tee guy to hit at least 3 shots before he was out off range.
HOT! Heat index >103! Took about 3.5 hrs to finish 13, got sick, puked, quit, went to clubhouse for about 10-15 mins to cool off before leaving, and some a-hole stole my rangefinder from parked cart.
Decent price, for a great course
I’d 100% play here again. Course was kept in great condition. Happy to play a course where the staff actually maintain & mow the course. Nice scenic course for the area. Reasonably priced for the caliber of course it is. I’d recommend to others for sure. Can be a little busy so your pace of play is a little quick, as you have players on you the whole time, but still an overall fun time & experience. 4.5/5 stars. Wish they had someone who came around & offered drinks to purchase. Buy drinks before & in the middle rounds
Pssst... you played on the 4th of July... not October.
