About
River Run Golf Links is a municipal course owned by the city of Bradenton. Unlike many others in the area, golfers won't have to worry about hitting homes on this non-residential course. The layout is player friendly enough for all skill levels to enjoy but it's also a fair test that is anything but boring. The two nines are referred to as the River Nine, the front, and the Pirate nine. The golf course is mostly straightforward and a pleasure to walk, although there are carts available. Ancient oak trees draped with Spanish moss provide shade and scenery throughout the course. Water has a prominent presence, coming into play on almost every hole. Some of the holes are tight and can be quite challenging but beginners can still approach River Run Golf Links with confidence.

Snail Pace of Play
Went early, but the old guys in front were so slow. N the end only played 11 since it was hot, and I had my 8 year old son with me and he was overheating as we waited non-stop.
Decent Overall Conditions, Great Staff, Worth Playing
Played late morning weekend round using GolfNow "Hot Deal'. Thus, pace of play was quite slow with long waits on every shot and no chance to create any rhythm. Fairways and tee boxes were all in good shape. Greens were mostly in good condition with the exception of some 'sand patches' around the edges of more than several greens. Fairway bunkers were playable, however greenside sand traps were all in very poor shape. Hole # 4 has a temporary green, but it looks as if the regular green's repair is virtuallly complete and it should be open soon. Staff members Wendy (inside/cash register), Dave (starter/marshall) and Jason (marshall) were very friendly and accomodating. I would recommend Buffalo Creek, especially for the price, and look forward to returning soon.

Good Early September Greens and Fairways
Played Labor Day weekend late morning round as a single paired up with others. Dave in the clubhouse and John and Carl outside (carts/starters) were friendly and accommodating. Course was in good condition overall with greens, fairways and tee boxes all in good shape. As there was a tropical storm here within the last week the traps were virtually unplayable with standing water in several..Pace of play was horrendous: Two of the players in our foursome were a young couple who were total beginners (his second time playing, her first round). They were nice enough to let us play on as a twosome after the first hole, but we soon encountered a front nine stacked up with slow threesomes and foursomes. There were sometimes three groups on a tee box waiting to tee off, which made for a long afternoon. So the recommendation is to play River Run if you get a chance but don’t expect a four hour round, especially if you go on a holiday weekend.

Best Bang For Your Buck
From start to finish, this course is great considering the lack of rain and high heat this summer. Just wish it had a legit range.

Enjoyable Experience- Nice Greens
Played late morning, mid-week round. Due to a rash of no-shows we teed off early. Greens in very good shape except for a few bare patches near the edges on several (just move your ball a foot or two to the left or right). Sand traps not groomed and difficult to escape.. Tee boxes just “OK’. Fairways are in decent condition in spite of lack of rain snd record hot days. Pace of play slows up dramatically when you get to the back-to-back dogleg holes on the back (13 & 14). Staff members Phil and Jim (outside, carts) and Lee (inside, register & check-in) very friendly and accommodating. Recommend and hope to return soon.

greens were just aerated. They did a good job.
Putts rolled fairly true.
