White/Blue at Myakka Pines Golf Club

I dont play this course often as I used too and see why. We were told by the starter that hole 3 White was closed during our round so we skipped it and when we got to hole 7 White it was closed for maintainence as crews were out working on it. Thats two holes unplayable for over $100. After our round finished at 3:30pm, the kitchen was closed. Its no wonder people dont use their clubhouse after. Workers were overall friendly and efficient but I think these issues lies on management. Probably wont go back.

Driving the ball off the tee is not intimidating, plenty of areas to spray the ball and still be in play. Looks like they are trying to improve the drainage. They have a small par 3 set-up for when they close a hole for repair. The day we played, the 9th hole (a par 5) was closed, they were laying drainpipe. This area must not drain well, was surprised all the mud on my ball and it had not rained significantly for a while. The general workforce doesn't seem to pay attention to the golfers, had to wait a few times to hit until they finished what they were doing.

My only complaint is if Blue is one of the nines you are playing, you will only be playing 17 holes because the finishing hole on that nine was closed for construction. I wished they made players aware when checking in or when booking the tee time. Disappointed.

The only complaint that I have is the golf cart restrictors are ridiculous. You can’t even cross the fairways on some holes which makes peace of play slower because you have to walk across the fairway to your ball.

The check in process was a breeze with friendly staff. We dropped our bags off at the bag drop and they immediately put them on carts-very friendly. Overall, the course was in good condition. I’m not crazy about the layout as several Greens are right next to the Tee-Boxes. Pace of play was good on the front 9, but that changed waiting on almost every hole on the back 9. Keep in mind, it’s peak season and they were very busy.

The course is a fair layout. Unfortunately the first hole we started on is under construction. There were also a number of construction projects on the course. The workers were not always staying out of the way.
