Shenvalee Golf Resort - Olde/Creek

Beautiful setting for an old school golf course. Greens are FAST and firm but putt true. Only negative was we were behind 2 foursomes who were very slow. 2nd nine we got ahead of them and it was much better.

Front 9 creek course nice layout and conditions. Pace of play was fast. Back 9 miller course layout odd. Serve real blind tee shots and second shot. Conditions okay. Pace of play very slow. Unfortunate.

Course was in excellent shape. I love playing here. Pace of play was pretty bad today, there was no ranger and we had people in front of us not letting people play through. Stacked up a bit.

We took a small "golf holiday" and Shenvalee did not disappoint.

From the start, with a major mix-up on our room, number of golfers and cost, the staff did a good job of understanding the confusion and making the most out of a bad situation. The staff is excellent from check in, through the course. Customer focused culture is important and Shenvalee has that covered.

We played five rounds over three days covering all three nines. A couple of holes had minor areas that needed repair but overall the course was challenging without being unfair and offered enough variety. We managed to be there while the greens were being sanded and yet the greens still rolled true. I can imagine once the process is complete, the greens would be pristine.

Only one hole of the 27 would I consider "silly" (Miller Course #4) until after we played it with a very blind tee shot with no way of knowing when the group in front of us was clear of our tee shots.

Plenty of nice scenery, a few drivable par 4s, a couple of long par 5s and interesting par 3s made the trip very enjoyable.

As a Civil War historian being in New Market was fun, however there's not much more although with the onsite grill and "all you can play" each day as a resort guest unless you just get worn out from the course, there doesn't have to be much more.

The wife is already thinking about another trip in the spring.

I took my son and his friend golfing. There had been lots of rain. The course absorbed the water mostly and the green were soft and forgiving. The carry was not as long as usual due to the wet conditions. Overall a great day and nice round. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Chili dogs were delicious.

I got out early in a Saturday morning and played the Olde and Miller courses. Not only did I shoot my best round ever but I did it with amazing views. The course is surrounded by the Blue Ridge mountains and has a great layout. I don't get out to New Market often but when I do I will be back. Highly recommend playing here

Good layout. Holes are interesting. Water comes into play. Well maintained. Staff was polite.

The course was on good shape. Greens rolled nicely. Playing from the blue tees added a nice challenge. The staff was very nice and accommodating.

We enjoy playing here. Creek is my personnel favorite. Usually try to play one-two times a month here.

Nice course, Great Value, Friendly Service, and if your round didnt end up the way you planned there always the Miller Grille to drown your troubles away!

Played on holiday weekend but starter kept things moving. We are from out of town but will definitely come back.
