Hyde Park Golf Club
About
Hyde Park Golf Club, built in 1925 by Donald Ross, is one of the oldest in Florida. In 1971, the golf course was purchased by former touring professionals Billy Maxwell and Chris Blocker, who have successfully restored it.
Rolling hills, gorgeous Spanish Oaks and towering Southern Pines make Hyde Park a lasting experience. A tour stop for the men's and women's professional golf tours in the 1940s and 1950s, the golf course gained a place in history during the 1947 Jacksonville Open. The great Ben Hogan took an 11 on the par-3 sixth, which became known as "Hogan's Alley." It has a deep-faced bunker to the right and water to the left.
Hyde Park Golf Club measures 6,468 yards from the longest tees for a par of 72. The course rating is 71, and it has a slope rating of 124.

Over priced!!!
Greens are in bad condition...over priced...no beverage cart...
Needs an overhaul
For the history that this course has, it's definitely not worth the weekend/holiday price. I'd pay $20 max for the shape the course is in right now. Half the greens resemble greens, the fairways have grass but that's about it.
Many holes have a ton of character and this could be a real gem in Jacksonville with the history it has (Donald Ross design/Ben Hogan played here).
Whoever agreed to place the cell towers in the center of the course was a fool. The support wires extend across several fairways and the towers are an eye sore. Probably did it for the money. Mr. Maxwell should get a group together for some major renovations as this course has potential.
You can't in your right mind charge $40 to play this course when you can play North/South Hampton for $49.
If you want to try it out, play during the week, don't' waste your hard earned money on the weekend.
First time playing Hyde Park....pleasantly surprised!
Some fairways were a little patchy but greens and tees in good shape. You can definitely see Donald Ross's design throughout. Good value for the money....will play it again.
The price is reflective of the condition of the course. It's great to be able to play a Donald Ross course.
The course is obviously very old and historic. The staff was friendly enough and the ladies working the cafe and bar were superb. The greens were not in good condition.
Good not great.
Greens need some work. This once great course has seen better days and the greens are in fair condition. Overall though, fun course and good deal for the right price.
Old style course
The course is an excellent test of skill for all levels of player. The greens are quick, and some have lost their bermuda which can be tricky, but overall the course is a good test.
Greens were Poor, but a great value
This is an old Florida course with majestic pines. The water hazards are minimal. The greens were in pretty bad shape, but overall the course was in good condition.
greens need work
course played good greens just in rough shape but not unplayable
A classic course in need of some TLC
The course was not in the best of shape. The fairways were patchy and the greens were rough. Perhaps as we dry out this winter conditions will improve. The brakes in our cart were virtually non existant and in need of maintenance. The course itself still shows the classic beauty of "old" Florida Donald Ross design.
