Hyde Park Golf Club
About
Hyde Park Golf Club, built in 1925 by Donald Ross, is one of the oldest in Florida. In 1971, the golf course was purchased by former touring professionals Billy Maxwell and Chris Blocker, who have successfully restored it.
Rolling hills, gorgeous Spanish Oaks and towering Southern Pines make Hyde Park a lasting experience. A tour stop for the men's and women's professional golf tours in the 1940s and 1950s, the golf course gained a place in history during the 1947 Jacksonville Open. The great Ben Hogan took an 11 on the par-3 sixth, which became known as "Hogan's Alley." It has a deep-faced bunker to the right and water to the left.
Hyde Park Golf Club measures 6,468 yards from the longest tees for a par of 72. The course rating is 71, and it has a slope rating of 124.

par 5 on the front 9 Photo submitted by jpmorgan08 on 06/07/2013
The greens need some work.
Tee boxes and fairways were well maintained. The greens need some work. Very bumpy with dead spots in some areas.
Our threesome will return!
Out of our threesome, 2 had never played Hyde Park but will return. You can feel the tradition of this old course which plays fair to all. The final 5 holes are so different from the rest of the course it was like being on another course. There were ample water coolers even 2 at most stations.
Great course!!
Great course and a great value!!!! lots of fun to play.
Great layout, fun to play
Good shape. Greens were a little slow, but even with no dead patches. Shot a 78 even with a double bogey on last hole. Even hit the cart barn on my third shot with an uncontrollable straight shot. Woohoo!
Greens were better than most places since every course is aireating
Played 6/2/13... Course was wet due to rain..Greens were in surprisingly good shape
Slow play. Waited every. Hole. Golf course is worst than a muni type course.
Greens are so so. Fairways are so so. Type of grass is like cow patch. Very very very slow. Had to quit plaing with four more holes to play.
Its not work more than $20
We paid $17.oo per round. i personally wouldnt pay more than $20. Its an old course and i haven't played it in more than 20 years. the Greens were pretty decent, but the fairways still need some work. It was in need of being mowed but there was 6 inches of rain the prior week, so i am sure they were trying to get it dry before cutting.
Great course, there are just better courses to play for less money
Better courses available for less money that include a drink or meal such as Eagle Landing. Greens were in fantastic shape. Only drawback to the course was the clubhouse. The bar and restaurant are cash only.
course is awesome
the course is great , everything is so green! i played there for the first time the other day. i was some what skeptical because of the reviews, but the course is in awesome shape. the greens are a little thick but in great condition. i liked it so much i played it two days in a row. first day +3 second +7 loved it . GO PLAY IT!
this course was in great condition. Lots of fun.
course was in great shape, most of the greens were beautifully
maintained, and a fun golf course to play. I will be booking again very soon.
Challenging for the average golfer....
This course provides adequate challenges for the average golfer. You will be tested for most of the things neccessary to shoot under 100 for a round. The pace is also exceptional. I would reccommend this course to all of my friends and family.
enjoyable old time track
Always enjoy playing this course. I always try to imagine what it was like back in the day. Course looks ready for summer. Lots of grass on the greens. A bit slow for my taste.
Classic old style course
Greens were in great shape but a bit slow. Fairways a little thin but early in the season. Always love playing this course.
The course layout is very nice but definately need quite a lot of maintenence.
Greens were very inconsistant and several bunkers were like concrete. The fairways were not in very good shape. it was like hitting off hardpan most of the day. It was Saturday, 80 degrees and no beverage attendant, starter, or anyone monitoring the pace of play. We had to tee off on the back nine because the first tee was backed up over an hour behind schedule
If you have never played Hyde Park, just do it.
Hyde Park is a fairly used Municiple course. The greens were in great shape. The Course has its fair share of challenges. However it is good for the beginning golfer. You can bump and run to most greens.
Very nice course in good condition.
enjoyed playing the course. liked the layout and played with nice people. greens were in good shape, but the fairways need a little attention.
Course is fun
It has been dry recently and this course is only watered on greens and tees, so there was a lot of run and hard fairway lies. 4 greens had some bad growth/large weed areas and the greens were not at all even in speed or consistency. Having said that it is a nice old course that was enjoyable. Starter put me with some fun guys and we all had a good time. Good place to work on your game but there are better courses in the area that are about the same price. I got this hot deal from Golf Now that I couldn't pass up and would definitely play this course again for that price.
The staff was friendly and course was in good condition.
The course was in good condition, and the pace of play was good. The staff was very accomodating.
Hyde Park
It was cold windy day when I played so the course was not crowded. I loved the layout and the history of the course. It made playing it fun. Course was maintained in good condition, a little rough around the edges, but a great value. I would love to see it returned to it's glory days. I will add this course to my rotation.
