Golfer Reviews
Very pleasant experience
Really enjoyed this course. It was challenging from the white tees, and the staff was very friendly and welcoming.
All in good shape. A few greens had burnt spots but pin position corrected putts. Traps needed a little attention. Played as a couple and challenging for both of us
Get a round in before your flight home
This course is located directly across the street from the Myrtle Beach airport. My flight was late afternoon - so I scheduled a round after I checked out of the hotel and before my flight. Hit in 18, shower available in clubhouse to freshen up before my flight. They let me stow my luggage at the clubhouse during my round (airline limits bag check to 3 hours before the flight) and when it was time to go - the starter kindly drove me to the end of the drive and I walked across to the airport.
Nice course but long
Staff members were very friendly and helpful. Felt like they really appreciated us being there. Course was in good condition for time of year but played very long.
Wasn't disappointed!
I've been curious about playing this course for years, seeing it every time I drop someone off at or took a flight from the MBSC airport. So this year it became my birthday course of choice, and the experience was very enjoyable. Of course, there's the plane and helicopter noise, but I nixed that out. The course was in great condition. Pace of play was slow but if you're retired, not in a hurry on your bithday (like me), and a pretty seasoned golfer who doesnt waste a lot of time or shots getting from tee to green, who cares? Staff was friendly, helpful, and welcoming--a big plus and kudos to them. Their goodwill definitely contributes to my interest in playing there again.
Surprisingly Challenging
This was a fun course to play. Lots of water and mostly on the right side so those who slice will be in the drink :)
Friendly staff. Bag man gave lots of insight before round started.
Some tee boxes were under repair and some greens had bare spots. But overall, it was a nice course for a good price.
Get what you pay .
I got a t time sat. Morning 7:00am. Greens were a little slow for my own liking. Paid about $60 including range balls and booking fee. I’d rate course 7/10. However $60 these days on Saturday morning bumps it up to 8/10. It was a fun course. Also a lot of cold coolers around to beat the heat. I appreciated that considering I paid $125 the other day at Tidewater and they had no water coolers. Only one water fountain per nine at the bathrooms. Water was warm.
Greens
Overall, it was pleasant playing Whispering Pines. the winds really picked up the last 5-6 holes and the helicopter rides are a continuous item, not that it bothered me. The course itself is in good conditions but the greens need a lot of attention, there were a lot of bald spots, burned out spots and in general, not rolled very well, there were a lot of bumps and, hops, kicking putts off line. If I play there again, I will look into the greens to see if they are any better. The Overall Rating I provided is due to the greens.
