Course had had the greens punched and the fairways and such cross cut , but had come back in pretty good. Very well taken care of. Thumbs up to the greens keeping staff!

I have played several courses in the Myrtle Beach area, including TPC. In terms of difficulty, Prestwick is right there with TPC. The slope from the tips is 150 and it is ALL of 150. If you are either a good golfer or take golf seriously, you will love this course. The front 9 and back 9 are distinct, and at least half of the holes are extremely unique. Almost every green has a steep drop off, or is barricaded by bunkers or water. There are not a ton of water hazards, but when there are, they are strategically located to penalize a bad shot. The 245 yard 8th Hole Par 3 and the 9th Hole along the lagoon are unreal. The conditions at this place for July 3 were gorgeous. The staff could not have been nicer and more friendly. They truly made you feel like you were a member at a private country club. Will definitely be back!

Just wrapped up an awesome round at Prestwick Country Club in Myrtle Beach, and it absolutely delivered! This Pete and P.B. Dye masterpiece is a true test of golf that somehow manages to be incredibly fun from start to finish. With dramatic Scottish berms, deep pot bunkers, railroad ties, and sparkling water hazards on eight holes, the layout keeps you engaged and thinking on every shot. The front nine winds through pine forest like a classic Dye design, while the back nine opens up with ocean breezes adding extra challenge.

I played from the white tees (smart choice for enjoyment), and the course felt perfectly balanced—demanding precise drives and creative approaches without being punishing. The fairways were pristine, the greens rolled true and quick, and the elevation changes kept things exciting. Every hole had its own personality, especially that memorable finishing stretch on 16-18!

The staff friendliness was outstanding; warm, helpful, and genuinely invested in making your day great. Prestwick strikes that rare balance of challenging yet super fun. Already planning my next trip back and can’t wait to take another crack at it and bring the whole crew. Highly recommended for any golfer visiting Myrtle Beach!

Tight fairways, well guarded fast greens. Will play again.

Beautiful course the maintance crew has done a fantastic job. I played there last Sunday and had one of my buddies get very sick. Turns out his kidneys were failing but the pro shop attendant treated it as an inconvenience rather than help him. When I walked back in, after my buddy was getting drove to the hospital, he was talking crap about how he “had to deal with an ambulance because somebody drank to much last night”, to other public players. Meanwhile he had not drank in two days. One of the most unprofessional things I have ever seen. I would love to come play that course again but due to this experience I don’t know if I would just because of him.

recently played this course and was extremely impressed. The course was in outstanding condition from tee to green. The greens were absolutely fantastic—smooth, fast, and very well maintained.

The staff was excellent throughout the entire experience, friendly, professional, and eager to help. The course itself is challenging, with a great layout.

For senior golfers, especially those over 70, I would highly recommend playing from the gold tees. .

Overall, a great golfing experience, and I would definitely look forward to playing here again.

I played Prestwick Country Club with three friends on 03/26/2026. Designed by Pete Dye and his son P.B. Dye the front nine winds through a pine forest while the back nine has a more open layout with water coming into play on almost half the holes, some of the holes have Pete Dye’s signature railroad ties incorporated. Hole number nine and eighteen are close copies of the ones at TPC Sawgrass. The rough was still dormant which gave an interesting contrast with the deep green of the fairway. The course was in excellent shape and the greens rolled true. The day we played the pin placement were in some very interesting spots. I asked the manager in the pro shop afterwards and he told me the green speeds were at an eleven. Playing conservative on your green approaches is the way to go, because if miss there are plenty of deep run off that will gather your ball. The last three holes will require your full attention with water coming into play on all three of them. The entire staff from the bag drop to the restaurant, to the pro shop were extremely nice and professional. This was my first time playing and I would definitely come back.

I don't write reviews but I just had to chime i. about pace of play here. We were backed up early on the front and then at 15 there were three groups waiting on the fourth. I didn't get to finish bc I had to leave. The marshals were nowhere to be found which is crazy on a Saturday. Fun course, cool layout, atrocious pace of play.

Course is in ok shape. Staff will harass you about pace of place and send you messages to the cart even though you’re waiting on the group in front of you the entire round. They will target the younger groups to pick up pace even though the old groups are holding them up.

Told one of the harder courses, and it lived up to that. Thought course was great and conditions were good, but was a long round of almost 5 hours. Would come back to try it again.

Prestwick is a great challenging layout. It will leave you thinking on every shot. No two holes are alike. The front 9 is very reminiscent of Dyes design at Harbour Town. Generally speaking the fairways are pretty tight. Not a lot of room to hit the ball. And they are several really long par 4s. There are also several pretty challenging forced carries. Holes that stood out to me are 3 which is a long straight par 4. But long to the tune of 440 yards from the white tees. And pretty tight. 5 was an interesting par 3 with water cutting from right to left in front of a big 3 tiered green. 9 is a beautiful left sweeping par 5. With water all down the left. 11 was a really cool hole with a carry over a big waste area. 12 is a shorter par 3. But it’s all carry over a pond to a very undulating green. 17 is one of the hardest par 5s around. It’s 500 yards. The fairway is pretty tight. And gets tighter as you go. There is water on the left of the fairways. And just short of the green it cuts across the hole and to the right of the green. And 18 is a beautifully done long par 4 with water all the way up the right. The entire back 9 is just outstanding.

The conditions are good. Fairways are in good shape. Tees are ok. The greens are dormant. So there are some spike marks later in the day. But they are generally very true and smooth and very fast! It’s a course that it helps to have played before (I shot a much better score this time than the first time I played here in October) If you are in the area it’s definitely worth a play if you want a challenging course.

Played Prestwick today after having it recommended a couple of times. It was a very tough course. Maybe the toughest I’ve ever played. And I’ve played the Ocean Course at Kiawah (granted the day I played the wind was light) and Harbour Town. The greens are extremely firm and fast. Most are also very large and Dye-abolical. Lol. Seriously there is a lots of swales and movements in the green. There is some room out there to hit the ball. But if you hit it in the wrong place you’re done. You have to be on the correct part of the course. Many fairways are either built up with low areas around them or built between two sets of rolling mounds. It’s long, and it was wet so it played long. There are several forced carries. Many deep nasty bunkers around the greens as well as mounding. Plenty of water to find. It was a beautiful day and it was fun to play even though it wasn’t going to be a good score. That being said I don’t layer Farmstead the day before and thought it was in better shape for $23 less. Don’t take it the wrong way. Prestwick is not a bad course. But little things were off that I don’t expect if I’m paying between $80 and $100 like they charge. First almost all the tees were chewed up. Second, many fairways were wet but worse the rains had washed dead grass clippings into huge piles and they hadn’t been removed or blown off. Last the bunkers were almost unplayable. They hadn’t been raked since it rained last. And I had been there two days and hadn’t seen any rain. These things $100 courses don’t do. It’s a great course. Great fun. And a great layout. But if it’s gonna be a $100 course I’d like to see these things fixed.

played 36 holes day after tropical storm isais....course was very wet .....but even after all that water the course was in great condition...staff was also great...will be back to play again
