Ocean View Municipal Golf Course

Course has potential, but needs better maintenance. Greens are like putting on Velcro … not sure the stimpmeter can read that low. Might be better later in the season as greens looked basically healthy.

This course is easy but fun. Anyone with time to play it should.

Only thing I would say is that the greens weren’t the most well maintained. Otherwise a quality course.

I would not recommend this course. I could let go of the quality if it was managed correctly. Teeing off in the morning, we were behind a family with 2 children, which is fine and I think kids should play. My partner and I hung back and allowed them to play their speed. We continually had the group behind us playing into us. At hole seven the marshal came out and yelled at us to pick up the speed. When stating we did not want to drive into the kids he said play into them. This is unacceptable. I would not want someone to be unsafe let alone hitting into a group with children. We went into the clubhouse and was told if the marshal said it then we need to follow. Again, choosing to disregard safety. We left the course and did not finish. We were playing at 1 hour 40 minute pace, by know means slow. Contacted course management, they have failed to respond at the time of this review. I would hope the consider starting groups on opposite 9s if they choose to over book. This is poor management on their part.

When looking for a place to play while visiting my son I found this on golf now. It had decent reviews so I thought why not….let’s give it a chance. The staff was super friendly. The course, not so great. The name ocean view will throw you off thinking you might see the ocean…you do not. The fairways and rough were in good shape, the greens were not. They were sand covered and inconsistent. I ended up joining up with a local and he said the greens were always like this. While it is a good course for the cost, not sure if I will come back and play this course when I visit again.

I have been playing ocean view since I was a kid and I’m in my 50’s. Great value for the price. My only complaint and it’s getting worse is pace of play. We teed off 20 min before our scheduled tee time yesterday and thought we would be in for a well paced round but by the 2nd hole we caught the two groups in front of us. There was a 4 playing that got slower and slower as the day went on. By 13 the groups in front of the foursome were on 17 going to 18. I never saw a Marshall or course representative asking them to speed up there play. The 3 1/2 round took 5 hours. Please have better course managers to ensure speedy play.

Staff were very accommodating and friendly. The course was in good condition and the greens were challenging. Had a great time.
