Faldo at Wildfire Golf Club at Desert Ridge Resort
About
Faldo Championship Course at the Wildfire Golf Club measures as long as 6,846 yards, depending on which tees you're shooting from, and lies on 174 acres and features some differences from the average desert-themed golf courses. Faldo offers abundant fairways, big bentgrass greens and tee boxes, as well as the golf course's neighboring mountains, century-old saguaro cacti and 106 sand bunkers - which remind golfers of Aussie sand-belt golf courses, which gives it a magnificent locale for golfers.
Wildfire Golf Club is much-feted: When the Faldo Championship Course opened, the Arizona Republic selected hole No. 2 among the valley's 18 best. The golf course received recognition among the 2006 Travel & Leisure Golf's "World's Best Golf Resorts" for family getaways and in the 2006 Conde Nast Traveler rundown of the "Top 100 Golf Resorts in North America." These are in addition to the Gold Tee Award from Meetings & Conventions Magazine.

Golfer Reviews
Great Day to Play Golf
Played Wildfire - the Faldo course with a friend for the first time. We got a very "Hot Deals" rate from Golfnow. The course was in beautiful condition and we had great weather. The practice facilities were very nice and so was the staff. I definitely would play this course again but with discounted rate. The regular rates are high for my budget but I was lucky to find the rate that I got.
Beautiful course
Really enjoyed playing the Faldo course. I was worried about the 108 bunkers but they are fairly placed on the course and very playable.
All 4 of us loved the course and will return.
overpriced
The range was closed and it was cart path only and this was the HOT DEAL for the day at $85.00 after taxes, etc.
We felt like this was a terrible value for a course with no driving range open and cart path only. We played the Faldo course which has challenges enough without having to walk back and forth trying to figure out what club to you.
Too much too soon!
Asking way too much money to play a course in this condition. The course was overseeded and no carts and the greens were as long as the fairway. The courses is beautiful and has challenges with layout and obstacles. I would love to play it when it was not in that type of condition. Charging the amount we paid was greedy!!! Should never expect to receive that kind of money for that type of condition. On another note, the staff was very friendly!!!
Fun Course
My wife and I enjoyed the Faldo track...we were paired with a couple local guys who were very fun! Bring your sand toys...lots of bunkers to play in!! Enjoy
Wild Fire Faldo
I am visiting on vacation ,staying on the golf property the holes looked so good I had to play. Great lay out a lot of traps great conditions
Faldo course
This was my first time playing the Wildfire course. I was pleasantly surprised with the entire experience. The course and facilities were beautiful. Greens rolled true and fast. Staff were friendly. I definitely want to play this course again!
Lots of bunkers, lots of fun.
This course is my go to course. Summer rates are great, winter rates a bit pricey. Other than that it's a fun course.
Definitely a must try for better golfer..
I just golfed the wildfire Faldo course.. It is a very challenging course... Bunker everywhere! If you like challenge this is the course. This course definitely play longer than most other course. Fairways and greens are kept well.
Bunkers Galor
When I saw this course with hot deal pricing, I knew I had to snatch it up. Got to the course, checked in, and hit the range. My friend and I were paired with a two some, but it was the 3-some in front of us that started off slow.
No one ever got behind us, so it was a no rush type of day.
There are A LOT of bunkers, so be ready to be in them. The sand is great though so if you have an idea of what you are doing, you will be fine.
The course layout is a bit odd. My friend and I played the Blue tees, which was good for us, but some holes were either extremely long or extremely short (16th par four). I would recommend this course to anyone, but I would not pay more than $50 to play here.
Overall great and had a blast.
Bring your beach towel
This course was in terrific shape....greens were true and reasonably well paced. fairways were excellent and the bunkers were nice soft sand. Just visited them too often as there are something like 100+ on the course. Great summer golf value as I found a Hot Deal.
Better than expected
Great course, much better than I thought it would be given that the land is so flat.
Golfer friendly
Love playing these gems for such a GOLFNOW hot deal. Greeted by friendly staff as we arrived. Excellent exchange with the pro shop staff. We were able to move up our tee time enabling us to play our round in a country club pace of 3 hrs. Don't forget to grab a ice cold towel at the starters area. Generous fairways off each tee made for a golfer friendly experience. The greens were protected by numerous bunkers making for challenging approach shots. Played in 100 degree temp so hydration is a must . Water on every other hole plus a personable cart girl offering other choices of drink and food.. If you forget to grab a scorecard she has them plus pencils. Course is in EXCELLENT CONDITION! After the round we stopped at Meritage for some ice cold drinks and tasty appetizers . A private course experience on a beer budget ! Why we love Summer golf in Phoenix.
Unremarkable
Played Faldo from Championship tees as a single, grouped into a foursome, staff would not waive that even though ready 30 minutes early. Compliments tho for not forcing us all to combine carts, especially with hot weather & heavy smokers in the group.
The course is in great shape. Have played both this & the Palmer courses before- consider them "quasi" desert, resort courses, as the brush adjacent to the fairways has all been cleared. Even though there isn't much (if any) water in play at Wildfire, both Wildfire courses are remarkably similar to Kierland (with some water). Not especially memorable or difficult. Faldo got a bit carried away with some of the fairway and greenside bunkers- maybe a great golfer and analyst, but I wouldn't rush to play any more of his course designs. Hit the fairway 100% of time- one of my better drives was nearly dead center, 10-15 yards right of fairway bunker in left center on a par 5 that bends to the left, it drew slightly onto a hidden slope and into the bunker with a high lip (#11). Goofy design. The prices are kept high- even in shoulder season- since they try to sell memberships for $25k/$500 month and can't do that so well if they drop their prices like most Scottsdale courses do outside of high season.
The tee boxes and greens were in very good shape, though let grow long, so slower than expected. The practice facility is above average. Drink prices were very fair. Carts are high end- can go very fast- with GPS that read true.
