Faldo at Wildfire Golf Club at Desert Ridge Resort
About
Faldo Championship Course at the Wildfire Golf Club measures as long as 6,846 yards, depending on which tees you're shooting from, and lies on 174 acres and features some differences from the average desert-themed golf courses. Faldo offers abundant fairways, big bentgrass greens and tee boxes, as well as the golf course's neighboring mountains, century-old saguaro cacti and 106 sand bunkers - which remind golfers of Aussie sand-belt golf courses, which gives it a magnificent locale for golfers.
Wildfire Golf Club is much-feted: When the Faldo Championship Course opened, the Arizona Republic selected hole No. 2 among the valley's 18 best. The golf course received recognition among the 2006 Travel & Leisure Golf's "World's Best Golf Resorts" for family getaways and in the 2006 Conde Nast Traveler rundown of the "Top 100 Golf Resorts in North America." These are in addition to the Gold Tee Award from Meetings & Conventions Magazine.

Golfer Reviews
Good Challenging Course
Greens were punched a couple of weeks ago so still a bit bumpy. Course conditions otherwise were very good. Be sure to hit it straight on this course - some steep bunker faces.
Challenging from back tee
The course was in great shape for the time of year. I would love to to play it again
Good Time
Played July 25th. Upon check in I was informed that they were just coming off Aeriation. I was pretty bummed because I did not see that on the GN app. To be honest it really was not that bad. The greens were a little bumpy but OK. The fairways and boxes were in great condition and the rough was fair. LOT OF BUNKERS!!!
Ordered two drinks from the cart lady...$20!!! Felt like I was in a night club with those prices....
Great Job Marriott.
Great course
Although greens had recently been aerated, the course was in great shape. LOTS of bunkers, but they are maintained very well and easier to recover from if you land in them often (like I did!). I'll definitely play here again.
Faldo
Incredible amounts of sand. Why they built a resort course with this many sand traps is puzzling. But great views, great holes and for $29 it's a steal (just sanded/aerated the greens!)
Nice Faldo Design
Plan on using every club in your bag and using them in creative ways to score. I found the greens tricky to read and at times I was left with a difficult approach shot to elevated greens. Expect to find cleverly placed bunkers for all driving distances. If you don't hit it straight expect a long iron bunker shot to the green. I would highly recommend this course.
Faldo Challenge
Wildfire Faldo course is a fair test for all levels of golfers. The greens are challenging as you will need to play the course a few times to make sure you know when not to take dead aim at the pins! I look forward to playing it again soon!! Nice staff and beautiful facility at the Marriot Desert Ridge!
Great course for the money
Too many bunkers but a beautiful course, weather was perfect, pace of play was excellent, some holes were a little challenging.
Great course and friendly staff
The course is in great shape especially for it being the middle of summer, price was great and will definitely go back if I find more deals like this. Staff was very friendly, especially the outside service staff as they waited into the dark to allow us to get the most of our round.
The course was excellent condition
The staff was rude didn't make me feel welcome, country club environment..
Challenging but fun to play
Great value at summer pricing levels! The layout is creative with well placed deep bunkers. They are to be avoided, but there are plenty of bale-out areas. Most greens are elevated with protective bunker complexes that will challenge your short game. Well-maintained fairways with divots repaired with sand.
BUNKERS BEWARE!!!
Course in GREAT condition as always. Nice staff. Bunkers in great shape and r deep. Plan your misses accordingly! Greens rolling true!
Great Summer Value
As a frequent visitor to Phoenix, this course was on my list to play. The rate on Golfnow was outstanding! The course was in excellent condition and the greens were as good as it gets. The sand was a bit inconsistent, so be it. I would play here again in the reduced rate season but probably wouldn't make the drive from the south end of the metro area for full season rates.
Play time
For a resort it is not a good idea to push people out at such short intervals. Ranger harassing us for being behind and pace of play was at a good speed. Made the round less enjoyable.
