Faldo at Wildfire Golf Club at Desert Ridge Resort
About
Faldo Championship Course at the Wildfire Golf Club measures as long as 6,846 yards, depending on which tees you're shooting from, and lies on 174 acres and features some differences from the average desert-themed golf courses. Faldo offers abundant fairways, big bentgrass greens and tee boxes, as well as the golf course's neighboring mountains, century-old saguaro cacti and 106 sand bunkers - which remind golfers of Aussie sand-belt golf courses, which gives it a magnificent locale for golfers.
Wildfire Golf Club is much-feted: When the Faldo Championship Course opened, the Arizona Republic selected hole No. 2 among the valley's 18 best. The golf course received recognition among the 2006 Travel & Leisure Golf's "World's Best Golf Resorts" for family getaways and in the 2006 Conde Nast Traveler rundown of the "Top 100 Golf Resorts in North America." These are in addition to the Gold Tee Award from Meetings & Conventions Magazine.

Golfer Reviews
Great Experience
Lots of sand but plenty of room off the tee. I was visiting and played with some members with course knowledge which was nice. I thought the course was fair and was in excellent shape. Saw some comments about slow play but we played in 3 1/2 hours with no waiting at all. Great pro shop as well.
"bunker-ville"...a visual treat!
Faldo has used an Australian bunker scheme to give a visual impression of elevation to a generally flat landscape. As you play a hole you see lots of bunkers facing you which fools the eye as to distance and landing space. As you look back at the same hole from the green you see no sand...it all faces you on the way in! Very playable course tho can be challenging for the better player...all depends on tee choice. Great variety of holes...good course conditions and we had great pace of play.
Despite frost delay, great pace of play
Booked this on Golf Now...great rate...Wildfire has excellent facilities for practice...Faldo course has tons of bunkers but very playable and tho we started late due to frost pace of play on a Sunday was great!
Always a good day and an overall challenge
This course will test driving accuracy, length , shot making , putting. Bunkers are big and challenging and plentiful. But with some accuracy the course will give you breaks too . It's always worth returning to

Great course. Would play more, but cost is a factor. On vacation for 10 days l would play this course six or seven times. We look for other golf courses to play only because of better deals. But that's Arizona.
Frost delay
Our group, a foursome, was left out of the info loop on the frost delay. When we asked we were given vague info & other carts, regulars, with later start times printed on their windshields were sent out before us.
Wildfire Golf Club - Faldo Course
The course was in excellent condition. The greens were true, held approach shots well, and were the perfect speed. Although it was cart path only that day, the pace of play was great. We finished in just under 4 hours. Wildfire is one of my favorite golf courses in the entire Valley. It is in great shape all year round. I highly recommend it.
Great Shape
Excellent condition, cooler day, played in 3.5 hrs. Wide, welcoming fairways tempered by numerous sand traps. Challenging but friendly. Greens perfect.
Good course
Apart from the driving range being closed it was a good experience all round
Nice course, tons of sand though!
A little pricey for off season and cart path only but really well kept and great views
Great value, great course
Played this course on a weekday in September. Great rate on golfnow teetime. Course had some dry areas as they were getting ready to oversees, but in very good condition nonetheless. Simple layout with lots of bunkering, but not not target golf at all as there are some holes side by side that add forgiveness. Would definitely play again or recommend to a friend.
Solid golf course
Course greens in good shape and fairways in good shape. The course is all about keeping it out of the bunkers and not short siding yourself. On time and good pace of play. Good range and short game area to warm up.
Great Course
The course was not in as good of shape as the previous times I have played it. This just has to do with the time of year. This is a wonderful course with the most friendly staff I have experienced.
terrific shape
Could not play a better course for the money. Pin placements were very challenging. Great deal.
Very Nice Desert Course
Have not played a Faldo design before this but I found it quite enjoyable . We 'Played Up" and course was a nice break from longer designs . Fairways were carpet and firm Bermuda greens had no marks . Bunkers pristine . Did not play the Palmer course but it looked every bit as nice . We were told it was more difficult .
Good Golf on Hot Day
Played in the morning and by the time we left it was 104. Greens held good shots and fairways were in excellent condition. Pin placements were fair. The club placed water in coolers on every other hole, but the cart came by so often I did not need it. Front nine is the scoring nine and back nine is long from Blue and Black tees. Pace was good as we played four and were neither pushed, nor left waiting on any hole. Started at 7:40 and finished at 12:30.
Very Nice Resort Course
Played Faldo early AM to beat the 115 degree heat. Course is in very good shape. A few rough fairway spots, but they are closing for aerification in a day so I'm sure they will be cleaned up.
Very generous landing areas on most holes, however stray too far left or right and you will find one of their 100+ bunkers.
Greens rolled true and were a little slow, but consistent form hole to hole.
Overall a great course can't wait to come back and play the Palmer course.
Great Course!
Only made it 2/3 of the way through before a monsoon took the course over. Great course. Nice wide fairways but lots of sand traps so hit it straight! Great staff. Hope to get back soon to play 13-18.
It's a trap!
Great course with open fairways. Hit right or left and you may end up in a trap. Greens were well protected by traps, some elevated. A few long par fours and fives.
