About
Unlike some Jack Nicklaus golf courses that have earned a reputation for being among the world's most difficult, mid- and high-handicappers stand a fighting chance at the Grand Bear Golf Course. Nicklaus offers wide fairways before the sprawling woods take over on either side, most bunkers aren't horribly steep, and greens generally have room in front to run a shot up. The winding Biloxi River helps build Grand Bear to a dramatic finish. The par-3 14th hole plays through a chute of woods to a green guarded by the river below that runs along diagonally, punishing hooked shots left short. After another par 3 on the 16th that plays with the river to the left, the 17th once again plays over the river on the drive, then parallel to the hole. The 18th hole plays long and uphill back toward the clubhouse.

Pace of plsy
I was a single playing behind 2 groups of 5!!! Their pace was pitiful! They did not tell me I was playing behind these two groups! Almost 3 hrs to play 9 holes!
Sorry we fell short this time. It's always challenging when a single gets behind foursomes, or worse still fivesomes like was your case. Sounds like we could have managed the situation better. We hope you will give us another chance to deliver one of South Mississippi's best golf experiences.
Dynamic pricing? Beware
All the staff I interacted with were courteous and professional. Course layout and club house are great, food and drinks were reasonably priced., but the course conditions were only so-so. Greens are not in great shape. Lots of dead spots and bumpy/inconsistent surfaces.
Be on the lookout for their “dynamic pricing”. They quote you their “as low as” price but if it’s busy that day, they’ll charge you more for your round. Feels a little like bait and switch at a place that’s far removed from anywhere else when you arrive.
Thank you for the honest feedback. Dynamic Pricing is set to change rates as availability changes. The "as low as" is the starting rate for the time period, but once tee times are booked then the surrounding rates go up. It's the same in the airlines and hotel industries. Pro tip: don't wait - book early and secure the tee time you want at the lowest rate possible. We hope to see you again next time you' visit the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
Great course
For price I expected greens to be as excellent as rest of course. Not so , greens were in need of work and more!

Grand Bear
The staff was beyond friendly. The course was in great shape and we had the greatest weather. It was my first time playing this course and just reinforced my belief that we are truly blessed on the gulf coast with some amazing bargain golf courses. I would rate this in the top of the courses on the coast and will no doubt be playing here again. The whole thing just had a nice classy feel with out being stuffy. Our group would like to give a big shout out to Bailey, the marshall who could not of been anymore friendly, Sarah, the sweetest cart lady who told us her when she would be back around every time which I thought was a great idea, and Sam who picked our cart up for us with an amazing attitude and genuine friendliness even though we where late and literally the last two cars in the parking lot. It is great to see quality establishments like this in our own backyards.

Six Mile Drive to beauty.
First, the entrance to the course is pretty excessive. A six mile track in might be a little over the top. All this extra space makes me wonder why there are not 36 available.
The clubhouse and course are beautiful. As a patron from Michigan, I have played courses very similar to this and I was Happy. I got a great deal on Golfnow, which makes this course an A++++. I have played Harbor Shores in Benton Harbor (another Jack Nicklaus course) and this one has similar topography. Really if you are from out of town play here, but get a deal, the up front cost might be too much. Mid $50-80 is completed reasonable, not over.
