Great layout.
Impressive and well maintained. Need a bell on some holes so you know when to hit your tee shot I #'s 11, 14.
great value
Outstanding value with Golfnow discount. The course is in great shape and is easy to access via I 95 freeway.
On time start........priceless
The course was in perfect shape considering all the rain we have received, only one fairway closed to carts and pace of play was perfect.
Fantastic Course aith Fantastic Value in the NOVA area
Went out for a foursome for fathers day weekend. We picked this course because our group was coming from Baltimore and Richmond and Forest Greens is almost exactly between the two and easy to find right off 95. The staff was extremely courteous and very helpful and we took advantage of paying an extra $6 for the advantage card that offers a free round of golf. The fairways are first rate and the greens were the best I've played all year. There are many elevation changes and quite a few blind shots that add to the challenge of this course. Although well manicured the rough was some of the most difficult I have hit out of and when combined with a few of the tight fairways I would probably have taken an iron off a few of the tees in retrospect. The play was slow as this seems to be a popular course in the area but the Marshall was there to keep the pace going and was pleasant about it. All in all it was one of the better courses I have played in a while and this confirmed by the rest of my group. We have agreed that this will be our meet up course moving forward.
Not the same Forest Greens
I actually like this course, a lot. They need to bring back the roaming marshal who actually verifies course position, as well as pace.
It's a very tedious day when groups are one, to one and a half holes off the pace in front of them, and jamming up the groups behind them.
We had four holes open behind us, as a threesome, and a foursome, playing at ~4.5hr pace, caught us by the 5th fairway.
I like the course, but might play less frequently if this continues. We left after nine holes, and hit the range.
A great course in great condition!
My first choice of any venue in Northern Virginia!
Beautiful course with some great holes.
The setting of this course is best of any muni I have played. Each hole has natural beauty and feels secluded from the rest of the golf course. The greens are faster than average, with fair, but challenging undulations. My only complaint is that the fairways needed attention. Grass on them was thin and uneven, but overall the course is a great experience and a fantastic bargain.
Just Okay
The course was just okay. The fairways need attention, but the greens were nice and very consistent. The course is challenging, because nearly ever hole has a blind shot around a corner of over a hill. The staff were nice enough, but too busy dealing with a tournament to handle my group's issues. I don't recommend the course because there are simply too many blind shots as stated before. In order to score well, one would need several rounds under their belt, or a very experienced caddy ( and who has one of those?).
Beautiful, challenging wide-open course, with few bunkers, but strategically placed.
Played on a beautiful, spring day, not much traffic, excellent pace of play, fairways and greens were well maintained.
Good value, staff very friendly.
due to weather this spring fairway grass was still dormant and greens were resently airrated, so not ideal conditions but we enjoyed the course layout. Staff treated us very well and marshall was out to get play moving when it slowed up a little on back nine. Would definnately play again when in the area.
Average
The course was not is good shape at all. It is late in the year so I didn't expect it to be in amazing shape but for the price they are still charging for a round ($45) the conditions were terrible. I have never played there before so I don't know what to compare it to. Wouldn't pay more than 20-25 for the condition it is currently in. Pace of play was also very bad, waited on nearly every hole.
No Value Here
I usually leave a course with great memories but that is not the case here. The layout is very vanilla, the condition of the course average and below average at times, and the rates, well, lets just say, for the money there are a lot better courses within 20 miles. I stopped by on a Saturday and was shocked at the rates. I thought it was a misprint, there had to be a mistake. Sixty nine dollars for a course that is worth forty nine on its best day. Its your money and you have been warned by someone that has played almost every course in the area. You can do a lot better.
Hidden Gem
A great course to play. Challenging layout with few blind shots. Green firm and true. Pace of play can be slow but don't mind spending an extra minute admiring the beauty of layout.
AThe course was in great shape. The greens ran true and were not overly fast.
NIce course to play, but you did need some course knowledge to get around. Some of the greens were not visable from the tee box which made the course interesting. Tee boxes were in great shape as were the greens.
Not great for ammeters
The staff was friendly. I enjoyed the grass driving range to achieve better pratice with my irons. The course had a lot of uphills and downhill holes that was very challenging for a beginner like myself. You don't get great scenery at this course but for the level of difficulty I have played better courses.
Always in could shape
Mike the starter one of the nicest guys very friendly and has good stories.
