Pretty and challenging course, horrible pacing
Anytime you play golf on a Sunday morning, you do expect some pacing challenges. However, having to wait to hit at every shot is frustrating and ruins any hope of developing consistency in your game. The staff is super friendly, and indicated that there was just nowhere to go. However, when I eventually gave up after the 14th hole (my partner left after 10), I discovered that there was literally nobody on the 17 fairway yet or anywhere on the 18th hole. Tells me that course management needed to be done when things were all bottled up all day. It was a shame, as the course is nicely designed, challenging, and a pretty course.

Conditions were great. Staff was amazing kind and helpful. Price in Golfnow was even better. Highly recommended.

Bunkers still perfect
The recently repaired bunkers are perfect which is rarely the case in Northern VA. Only found one, but a consistently soft playing surface in the sand makes the sandie possible.
The fairways were thin and inconsistent and the greens slow and bumpy (they were scheduled to get punched the next day).
I will go back in June and I think it should be good to go. There isn’t enough irrigation in the area to provide decent playing conditions until mid summer.

Why can't they get grass on the fairways?
Played int he last week in April and the greens were decent enough but the fairways are all just dirt and thin grass. It's barely different than what counts as the rough and I just don't understand why they can't grow any kind of decent grass on them. The grass is also lumpy so even if you hit it in what is supposed to be the fairway you never get a good lie and have to literally look around for a patch of grass to put it on. The weather has been warm and sunny for weeks and there has been enough rain so I know it's not a seasonal issue. I also know that it's not a seasonal thing because I played here last summer and it was the same. I'm just done with always hoping this place can get it's act together. Only plus is that I only payed $61 with an online pre-paid deal. So at least it's not one of these NOVA places that charges $100 to play on bramble weeds. Looking at you Old Hickory.
Also the ranger bizarrely made us let two from the group behind us play through just because they were getting anxious or something. We were keeping pace with the group in front and all that twosome did was wait behind them. Ridiculous.

Very nice course
Forest Greens was in very good condition. Greens were surprisingly smooth; huge jump from 10 days ago. Fairways still need a hot week to get the Bermuda grass to come in strong. Course layout is great. Lots of doglegs and elevation changes. Starter and clubhouse personnel were pleasant and helpful. Hot Deal price was great. I’ll be back!
