the only thing decent were the greens. the rest was terrible.
have played here many times in the past. the course is in pretty good shape. on the day I played, the skies just opened up with a down pour on the 8th tee box. Everything got soaked.
Called it a day.
Aerated back 9 and greens had damage.
The 2 most important things were course condition and value for the money, both of which I gave a 2 out of 5.
The back 9 had just been aerated and the plugs were still covering the fairways. Many of the tee boxes were patchy at best. Many of the greens had damage making putting difficult. When a course aerates they should announce it ahead of time so I can decide to play a different course. Also the course should charge less money the week of aeration. I've played Silverthorn before and this was by far the worst shape its been in.
Rain helping
Fairways getting better with plenty of rain recently. They normally maintain the greens. Having a problem with green #15. I’m sure they’ll work on it. A little more maintenance on fairways and t boxes and the course can be in very good shape again. Prices are a little high for summer in Florida.
Silverthorn
Need to cut the grass and too many bare fairway spots.
Great Greens Desert Fairways
Every single green was perfect! Every fairway on the back 9 was a mess. Hard to shoot a good score when you’re hitting your second shot middle of the fairway and it’s just a desert. Pace of play wasn’t bad 3.5 hours and for the first time every single staff member I encountered was extremely friendly/ nice
Needs attention
You can tell this course could be great by the layout, but it needs attention.
Course in decent condition
Despite the lack of rain, the course was in decent condition. It's a great layout.
Back in the Day
I bet this course used to be in great shape. The layout is nice. Many tee boxes to choose from. The bunkering is nice. However, the grass on the tee boxes and fairways are thin. The greens where in okay shape just slow. It was Friday, 2pm and the place was a ghost town. They did have a bar and food, and water on the course. All in all it was a decent place for the money and I would play it again.
Wouldn't recommend
The condition of the course warrants a one star rating. Tee boxes were almost non existent, bunkers had weeds growing in them, fairways had patches of weeds. The only bright spot at times were the greens and that was few and far between.
There's no way they should be charging $50+ a round, it's robbery. I would maybe pay $20 if I were to play this track again, but I won't.
Summer conditions
Pro shop staff, meh. Starter was very friendly. Pace of play is great, if you T off before 8 on a Saturday. There is a ladies league that starts at 8, and those gals don’t mess around. They are fast, but friendly. The course really took a down turn over the last few months. Greens were slow and had lots of dead spots. Fairways didn’t look great either. Looks like a $40 FL course charging $65-70. I played there quite a bit over the winter/spring, this is definitely the worst I’ve seen it.
Played 2 weeks ago and the course was better than 2 months ago but it was far from excellent! I'd like to know what other courses you have played to rate Silverthorne excellent?
