About
The Silverthorn Country Club golf course has earned its challenging 132 slope rating through a combination of rolling terrain, unpredictable Florida Gulf Coast winds, and no less than 96 strategically-placed bunkers. Joe Lee designed this course and it offers a mixture of wide-open links-style holes and tight, tree-lined fairways. The 25,000 square foot clubhouse offers a scenic vista of Silverthorn's championship golf course, surrounding lakes and splendid Florida sunsets. This classic blend of southern charm and golfing tradition will create wonderful memories for your golf trip to Brooksville

Worst Course Conditions Ever
I've been playing for around 55 years and I don't think I've ever played a course in worst condition than this one. Even a recently aerated course would be better than this one. Tee boxes were full of weeds, lack of grass, and very uneven . Fairway probably had not been mowed for at least a couple weeks - evident with the clumps of long grass with 10' sprouts/shoots. Dead spots and dirt all over the fairways tee to green. Traps were hard compacted sand. Greens were littered with "pock marks" - they weren't ball marks. Not a single map or diagram of each hole was available anywhere - score card included. Had to look it up externally. NO water available on the course despite having some fancy box holders every 3-4 tee boxes for those water cooler/dispensers. Snack bar staff was rude. 2pm at the turn and were told nothing available but leftover breakfast stuff since they were closing at 5pm. 3hrs to close and you can't make a few hotdogs?! No Gatorade at all. Pop and water only. Now for the only good thing.... the course layout itself was actually very good and enjoyable. This is a semi-private course in a gated community. I'd think the residents/members would be completely upset how this (assumed) once very nice course has gone very far downhill. Being mid-summer and any Covid related excuses should not be expressed.

Weeds everwhere
I felt compelled to warn everyone that there is a tremendous amount of weed growth on this course. We had to agree to place every ball because of the weeds. There were some areas of the course (ie over the greens) that there was no reasonable spot to place the ball within a 30 yard circle. I will not play here again. Its a shame because I always enjoyed the layout but every time I play it is worse.

Sand
Need to put some sand in the bunkers. But great layout and very challenging. Just needs a tiny bit of tlc . But will be back 100%

No drinking water on the course
It’s Florida and 90+ degrees out and you provide no drinking water out on the course

Grounds a mess
Most of the holes had packed mud around the greens. Everything off the fairways were the same thing. Bunkers are packed mud and unplayable. This course used to be so well maintained but now it is so bad it is not enjoyable. Will wait at least 6 months before going back. Hopefully by then they will bring it back to what they charge to play.
