Meadowlark Golf Course
About
Meadowlark Golf Club in Huntington Beach is a player-friendly layout that is a popular choice amongst locals. Like most classically designed layouts, the course is short and tight but that also makes it easily walkable. The pin placements on the greens can be tricky and there are also some challenging water hazards that come into play on several holes. The golf course will test your short game skills but there are wide, player-friendly fairways that balance the trickier elements. Beware, though, numerous trees on the golf course make many of the tee shots tight and narrow. It is not an overly difficult layout but it is an enjoyable round that players of any skill level will enjoy. Meadowlark also offers affordable rates that make it doubly appealing.

Nice staff/friendly fellow golfers
Was greeted at check in by a helpful man. Unfortunately It wasn’t made clear to me then and there that I would be joining another group. I was almost to first hole when I was startled by a man in a golf cart. (Some kind of Greens Sheriff I suppose)who informed me I had to join another party even though I was on time and had already begun my game. I wouldn’t have spent the $ if I’d known that. I am not a good player and wanted not to join anyone so they wouldn’t have to deal with my newbie status. Silver lining is I was paired with the sweetest couple who were so patient with me and the wife really gave me useful advice. Maybe I’m naive as to how this works but I was very nervous playing with strangers and did awful the first
few holes. I ordered a beer on tap to go and it wasn’t cold. The course could be marked better. I got lost twice trying to find hole 4 & 7. Bathrooms were clean. I will go back but I will ask more ?’s of staff before I play.
Bunkers need more sand
Bunkers need more sand - especially on hole #17..... You are hitting out of dirt and mud!
Memorial Day
Play was slow but expected in this holiday.
Course is in good to great conditions for a public course. Greens are firm and in good conditions. Bunkers I ended up in were actually well kept, lol, no hard dirt.
Good vibe here and it’s a fun course.
Good course
The course was in OK shape. Most fairways were in good condition and the greens were good too. Pace of play was excellent, but that’s if you tee off early, not sure if it gets bad later in the day. Over all the course was in good shape and would definitely come back.
Great value in orange county!
Ive played meadowlark many times, before and after covid. There are a few gimmicky holes (8, 15) and some tough bubble/turtle shell greens (4, 10, 12) which helps make the course more balanced for long hitters, but is definitely going to cause frustration barring a great approach and putt. For orange county, its a fairly priced, fun track that will challenge you in unique ways, with shifting winds and a varity elevation changes/required shot shapes. My only complaints are that the bunkers can be firm w little sand, and what is there tends to be large grained, and the greens are not rolled out so they can be a bit slow and bumpy, ie. Hard to make short putts particularly down hill. Overall, its really a nice play to play with friends or join a group as a single. I play as a single often and have always had a positive experience with my pairings. 4.2 stars overall for proximity to the ocean breeze, price, pace of play, uniqueness, and conditions. With proper bunkers and rolled greens at the same price, id rate it a 5/5. Have fun!
Greens are like mini-golf
When you get to some of the greens, they are on hills where if you hit slightly past the pin, it rolls off. there were so many instances where you feel like you're putting at a putt putt golf place where the hole is on top of the pyramid. and not that it made that much of a difference, but there wasn't one time where there was a cart person to even have the option for any type of drink or snack.
Solid Course
Meadowlark is a solid course for the amount of foot traffic during the week. I think it is one of the better OC courses for the price. There are a lot more courses way overpriced if you compare the condition of Meadowlark to other courses. I’m not a fan that you HAVE to prepay online because I think they get enough business that if people have to cancel they can fill those tee times. Overall, I would definitely recommend Meadowlark as a solid every day course
General Manager Derek
The General Manager Derek was working the front desk and was very hands on. He is a true professional. He was very hospitable. He told his co-worker to go on break while it was crazy busy. And, he was taking calls while checking in a long line. He handled it with ease. This man is awesome!
The food. I golf here every week and I have to say the the BBQ setup outside is epic. The man working out there is a professional. He is really nice and his setup on the patio is amazing. He serves amazing tri-tip, bratwurst and the best potato and pasta salad that I have ever had. Hot links, tri-tip, and bratwurst is just what the doctor ordered at this course.
I love this course!
See you next week!
i like the course but golfers are rude..
i like the course but golfers are rude...
or they think they own the place
Nothing special but will do the job
The layout is funky with greens which are perplexing. There are three holes which wrap around the range which are ridden with range balls. The pace was decent and off course amenities are good. Just not a course which is fun to play or recommend.
Slow pace, ridiculously pompous starter
While I was standing on the first tee 10 minutes before my scheduled tee time the grumpy old starter had the gall to tell me I was late and that I was backing the entire course up. Didn’t mention the four goofs in front of me who decided to play the blue tees even though none of them hit a drive further than 65 yards all day. Greens were in great shape though.
