Meadowlark Golf Course
About
Meadowlark Golf Club in Huntington Beach is a player-friendly layout that is a popular choice amongst locals. Like most classically designed layouts, the course is short and tight but that also makes it easily walkable. The pin placements on the greens can be tricky and there are also some challenging water hazards that come into play on several holes. The golf course will test your short game skills but there are wide, player-friendly fairways that balance the trickier elements. Beware, though, numerous trees on the golf course make many of the tee shots tight and narrow. It is not an overly difficult layout but it is an enjoyable round that players of any skill level will enjoy. Meadowlark also offers affordable rates that make it doubly appealing.

Meadowlark is short but not easy
Meadowlark is pretty short and not too expensive relative to other courses so you do get some less experienced golfers, we experienced a group in front of us that was a hole and a half behind BY THE SECOND HOLE!. Many mulligans and whiffs and dribbles. Overall pace of play was not outrageously slow (4:20) but later in the day, I saw 3 groups waiting to tee off on # 3 - so it does back up. There was an ambassador driving around but not really hurrying people up.
The course has tricky greens and the hilly track has some challenge to it. The conditions were OK. Greens looked hairy, but rolled OK if a little slow.
I will play again, you just have to pack your patience.
The restaurant and bar are nice and casual. Staff is nice.
smooth
friendly staff. we were allowed to tee off earlier than our tee time. the punched greens healed very well.
Aerated course
We made tee times a week ago. We payed full fair and was not told that the greens had been aerated. We feel that 1) we should have been told and 2) we at least should have gotten a break on green fees. Paying premium for a course that had been aerated is unacceptable for me and my group. It has been years since I have played this course and after yesterday it will most likely be many more years before I come back.
Home course
I live less than 5 min from here so I play it all the time. Good course. offers a decent challenge. Plays a slow on most days is the only down side.
Played Slow
The course was in good shape and really green. The only complaint was that it backed up on every hole. I golfed mid week and did not t-off until 1:40. This seemed like i was playing on a Sunday morning.
Overpriced
Booked a round ($46) for green fees and cart but then was charged $14 to have my own golf cart so total ended up being $60. Not worth $60 for this course.
HOLIDAY GOLF IN CALIFORNIA
It was presidents day and Valentines day. So the course was packed. Although short, the greens demand some attention, with three putts possible on a few. A nice course to hit some shots and work on your game.
Rookie Player
When you’re a new golfer going to a new course can be intimidating. The staff was great- a very good value for the money. Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. A note of thanks to the 3 I played with, very patient, helpful and just added to the great time. I was told the pace today was good and unusual. The full bar was nice. My only thought on how to make it better was if the driving range had more clear markers. The markers are all downhill so you don’t get great gauge on your shots. And some of the driving range balls should be immediately retired. The course isn’t long but you get to use all of your clubs which helped a newbie like me.
