Meadowlark Golf Course
About
Meadowlark Golf Club in Huntington Beach is a player-friendly layout that is a popular choice amongst locals. Like most classically designed layouts, the course is short and tight but that also makes it easily walkable. The pin placements on the greens can be tricky and there are also some challenging water hazards that come into play on several holes. The golf course will test your short game skills but there are wide, player-friendly fairways that balance the trickier elements. Beware, though, numerous trees on the golf course make many of the tee shots tight and narrow. It is not an overly difficult layout but it is an enjoyable round that players of any skill level will enjoy. Meadowlark also offers affordable rates that make it doubly appealing.

OK shape considering water situation
Under 4 hour round on weekday. Course conditions variable but mostly OK. Many very short par 4s. Overall very nice day. Close to ocean so weather is cooler than inland courses. Short course ...so many beginners but didn't make round slow. Very inexpensive on Golfnow deal. Bunkers are very hard sand.
Slow but fun
Played very slow on the front nine. The marshal finally showed up and got everyone moving. Took over 5.5 hours to finish. The course is in good shape but the bunkers were rock hard.
Average experience as a Hotdeal
An average muni with greens that need improvement. Numerous putts were impeded by bumpy greens. The overall layout of the course was unimpressive. I'd say give it a shot if you can get a Hotdeal that works for you, but don't pay rack rate. Recommend any of the Long Beach courses over this one.
Meadowlark
Was grouped wit two gentlemen that I had previously played with thru the Golf now community.Course was in decent shape t to green was fine the greens were in good condition ang rolling fine.If you want a round in OC great price and great weather this is the course.Always a nice breeze. And a great value.
Pace of Play has Improved
The pace of play has greatly improved lately. This is a good course for our twosome considering one of us is a beginner and the other is advanced.
amazing day
Great weather, course was in good shape and fast pace during the week.
Great Speed of Play!
Great speed of play. We finished within 4 1/2 hours. I found the course to be one that you do not lose many balls, however, that being said, still challenging. Lots of uphill slopes and if you slice your ball, you can find trees in your path. A little muddy areas near a couple of the greens, however, very nice tee boxes, fairways in great shape and the greens in good shape. I found the greens the most troublesome part of my day. Lot of pins sitting on breaking slopes. I like the challenge of trying to improve my read. Staff was very pleasant and even checked to see if our speed of play was ok. The reviews on the food are right on... taste was great! I just need to figure out how I can pick up a hot dog a little quicker on the turn so as not to allow my fellow golfers to wait too long on me. My only critique would be that the bathrooms can be cleaner. They were not a disaster by any means, but they did need more maintenance.
I will be back with some other buddies. Good course. Hope my next visit will return with the same outcome.
Nice course
The staff was excellent. The course was in good condition but over watered in many areas creating unplayable situations and poor footing. Greens in great condition. Pin placement on a few holes were to close to front edge of the green & drop off penalizing a good short or chip to the green requiring a great shot inside 10 feet. Over all a good golf experience. Could use a few new mats on the range.
Friendly and fun golf course
This course is fun and challenging, staffs are very helpful and friendly. The green is kepted in excellent condition.
Typical for a Saturday at noon
Play was excruciatingly slow (5 1/2 hours) but I didn't expect anything less for the time and it being a weekend . Enjoyed the company in my foursome even though the pace was terrible.
HB local AJ Marinelli
I golf all over the place but I always enjoy my time at Meadowlark. It's real chill and the staff is cool too. Not cool golf guy a holes like some places. Best turkey sandwich from my main man Compadre.
Great Value
Course was not crowded. Finished the round in under 4 hours.
WAY TOO SLOW
I've played Meadowlark many times, although it usually plays slow at around 5 hours this round was exceptionally slow, over 6 hours. My friends left after 10 holes. Then I joined the 3-some ahead of me and 2 of them left after 13th hole. People leaving in the middle of a round because it's so slow is not a good thing. On the 7th tee there were 6 groups waiting and it took about 45 minutes waiting on that tee alone. Many people say that Meadowlark over books and they won't play there. I'm thinking they are right and I would really have to think hard before I play there again soon. Over 6 hours is WAY to long
Excellent course
Overall I thorougly enjoyed playing this course. I have a handicap of roughly 18 and feel that this course had the right amount of difficulty as well as playability for a wide variety of golfers. Holes all have interesting features from steep slopes down the fairways to a good amount of water hazards as well as bunkers. Grounds are in great condition. Only negative thing that isn't too big of a deal breaker is the shape of the greens. The shapes are all turtle back/ domes.
Tough for short course
Small greens with tough reading and shots to green. Even being short must play course for shot making. Water, small greens, trees and traps.
very slow pace
Tee time was 12:26pm, we didn't start playing till 12:50 and finished at 6pm. This was a joke we had foursome that were in front of us playing like it's the PGA. We didn't see any ambassador to help move the pace of the game we had groups crossing thru when teeing off. This place has gone done and the price not even worth it...
If you must play...
Choose another course! It shouldn't be too hard to find a Marshall to ask people to keep up the pace of play. People will just cut in front and hit 3 or 4 balls, as if it's a practice facility. Staff might as well work at a fast food restaurant...
Hard hats required
None of our group will play here again without a hard hat. Range balls were flying at us on 3 holes. We even skipped the tee box on one hole to avoid being hit.
Hit by ball
I enjoyed my round very much course was in excellent condition food was delicious hey soul play was was average The greens were recovering from being punched The greens were recovering from being punched but we're still in good condition I recommend playing the scores get a chance on all a very good day
Golf on Monday
It would have been good to have a Marshall. They let a fivesome go out in front of us therefore it turned out to be a six hour round. We could not finish.
