Meadowlark Golf Club in Huntington Beach is a player-friendly layout that is a popular choice amongst locals. Like most classically designed layouts, the course is short and tight but that also makes it easily walkable. The pin placements on the greens can be tricky and there are also some challenging water hazards that come into play on several holes. The golf course will test your short game skills but there are wide, player-friendly fairways that balance the trickier elements. Beware, though, numerous trees on the golf course make many of the tee shots tight and narrow. It is not an overly difficult layout but it is an enjoyable round that players of any skill level will enjoy. Meadowlark also offers affordable rates that make it doubly appealing.

Did not play because of high school kids

this is just a warning to everyone about the single tee times Tuesday thru Thursday from 2-4. I got a 2:42 time and showed up and the kids were teeing off. The guy inside told me I would have to try and mix in with people already play a few holes in. I guess the system only books the high schools as 4 but the golf now system is set for 5. This leaves a single spot for all of the tee times with the kids. So if you are a single and want to play between 2-4pm Tuesday to Thursday don't go here.

Great Weekday Option

I know this course gets beat up for their weekend 5 1/2 hours rounds but if you can get out during the week and midday, the round plays 4 1/2 hours and they have great deals online. It's a short/older course so there are natural spots that require waiting for the group in front of you to clear, so that can't be avoided. But it's a fun and challenging layout. Not too tough. Kept in decent shape, except the tee boxes, which need some working on. So my advice, avoid on the weekend, but if playing on a weekday, definetly consider.

Fun but slow

Course was painfully slow. Not enough golf carts for the amount of players. Short but challenging course.

Short course with some elevations

Course gets a lot of play but is in decent shape. has a couple elevated tee boxes and greens are tough to hold cuz they' re shaped like mushrooms. (have to put it in the middle). Right at 5 hours on a Saturday at 9:00 is expected in So Cal.

Fun on Friday

We played at a good group. The pace of play was good. Tee boxes were in good shape. Fair ways were also in good shape even with all the hot weather. The greens were slow due to some sand earlier. Still ball rolled fine.

Mgmt needs to hold a higher standard.

Good course for the money. But Mgmt needs to be more selective with allowing certain types of patrons on the course. No need for drunken hackers driving the carts onto the green. Need more patrons with the proper golf etiquette to keep the pace enjoyable. Need an effective marshall to monitor inappropriate behaviors on the course.

SOMEONE IS GONNA GET HURT

THE DRIVING RANGE NETTING IS EVEN WORSE. NOW YOU CAN GET HIT BY A HARD HOOK FROM THE RANGE APROACHING THE GREEN ON # 9. WHEN DRIVING UP ON THE CART PATH THERE IS A GIANT HOLE IN THE NETTING YOU MUST DRIVE PAST. THE GREEN ON #7 AND THE TEE ON #8 REMAIN HARD HAT AREAS. MANAGEMENT UNCONSCIONABLY LEAVES THE NETTING DEFENDING THEASE AREAS FROM THE DRIVING RANGE IN TOTAL DISREPAIR. SOMEONE IS GONNA GET HURT BAD AND IF YOU SEE IT HAPPEN HELP THE VICTIM (AND THAT'S WHAT HE WILL BE, MANAGMENT HAVE HAD THIS POINTED OUT MORE THAN ONCE) SUE AND BE A WITTNESS. ALSO, GO IN AND COMPLAIN THIS NEEDS FIXING BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT.

Nice simple course

I really enjoyed the course we were behind a slow twosome who let us through after 6
Then it was wide open under 4 hours

Course played well it had rained the night before so some soggy areas but greens were quite receptive - I had heard it was very dry before so that can be a factor I'm sure

BEWARE - NO MARSHALLS, SLOW PLAY, RUDE STAFF

We played at noon on a Thursday. When we arrived the starter in the pro shop told us to go to the tee WHENEVER we were ready. When we arrived there were 3 foursomes and 2 fivesomes all there deciding how to proceed. THATS RIGHT 24 PEOPLE INCLUDING US. Some were senior women that had a hard time hitting more than 100 yards and there were two senior walkers. After a 5hour 45 min round where we had to wait every shot, endure people crossing fairways and picking up our ball, and a golf cart so badly needing maintenance on the brakes we almost returned to exchange it. I stopped in the pro shop to have a word with the management, who on a prior similar experience, told us on January 1st 2015 new management would be making changes. To my dismay I was told if I did not like it GO PLAY AGUSTA. The young man working behind the counter had his friends hanging out in the pro shop and they were all RUDE. Additionally, if anyone playing there should be hit by a ball on the seventh green or eight tee you should lawyer up and sue, as the management has been warned about the disrepair of the netting defending those areas and the DANGER FROM THE DRIVING RANGE. Furthermore, balls are going into the intersection of Graham and Warner at an alarming rate, the city should intervene. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL THIS COURSE IS A WASTE OF MONEY AT ANY PRICE AND THEY ARE USALLY MORE THAN ELSEWHERE.

Wednesday afternoon

We got a good deal though golf now thinking the course would be empty but it was full. We had to wait about 20 min before hitting off the first tee but things seemed to move along nicely afer.

This course is slow play

I had a tee time at 12pm on Wednesday. Got there and was matched up with 3 other guys. If I wasn't there these guys would play 6 some. Course condition was bad and pace of play was super slow. Took 5 hrs for the round

Meadowlark

Fun short small 18 hole course. Played on a rainy day which made the course muddy. But overall conditions of the course were good. Rate of play was slow, as they do let 5-somes out. Had a great round of golf, would recommend to any golfer.

A Good Value

A solid place to play during the week, but really stacks up on weekends. Some challenging holes, and the greens are maintained better than most public courses. We enjoy playing Meadowlark and are glad to have it in the neighborhood.

Delayed Start Time = Incomplete Round

Although a weekday (Thursday) it played like a weekend being the day after Christmas. Naturally, most players were out trying their new golf-related Christmas presents. It was already a short-daylight situation due to winter. However, an hour-plus delay in the scheduled Tee Time (12:30pm) shortened it further [according to a fellow golfer, they clearly overbooked for the day]. Add in a very slow-pace of play (typical for this course) and 'voila', 14-holes and then...dark. I hadn't played the course in years (10??) due to my recollection of its slow-play tradition. It's a fairly nice layout. But, could probably use an extra Marshall or two to keep things rolling along.
