At Red Rock Country Club, Arnold Palmer has created an escape from desert golf with a lush green course that forces golfers to think over their shots. As you're thinking, a waterfall could be crashing in the background. There are actually two Palmer courses here, but only The Arroyo is open for public play.

It measures in at 6,883 yards from the back tees and uses dramatic bunkering to set off its holes. The par 4s are particularly inventive, especially the 432-yard 4th. The par-3 seventh gives you great views of The Strip in the distance. The greens consistently run 10-11 on the Stimpmeter and the fairways are designed to funnel shots that are not overly wild back into decent lies.

"The Arroyo Course is what it is -- a playable course with stunning scenery and a smattering of decent golf holes," former TravelGolf.com writer Shane Sharp said. "It won't provide as memorable a round as Sin City's big-name resort courses, but the price is relative. If you're looking for a course to include in your annual Vegas rotation, Arroyo would be a nice addition, considering its conditioning and scenery."

Good time

Enjoyed the course. The greens were on the average side. Pace of play was also not great, but overall had a good time.

Impressed

Hands down the best overall public course I've played. Staff could not have been more professional. Layout was fair. Greens rolled true. Fairways in terrific shape. These people care. Needless to say, I'll be back

Bad Sand

Fairways and greens were good. Sand traps not being maintained, only raked. Must be winter so they are not doing much to the sand trap. Thought their sister course, Siena, was in a much better shape overall.

Red headed stepchild

Having played the private Mountain course on Tuesday, Nov. 1st, perhaps the comparison is unfair. Layout was good but not as exciting nor challenging. Good practice facilities and friendly staff. GolfNow green fee was 43 dollars cheaper than the private Mountain course rack rate but the course conditions were not comparable. However, I would return.

The Course is in excellent condition and very scenic.

For the 12 holes I played, it was very good. The pace was kind of very slow, I have to quit after 12 holes

or else, I will be late for my dinner date.

A great day!

Great layout which can be considerably more challenging based on tees selected. Beautiful shape...accommodating staff getting our twosome out in front of a large (slow) group. Perfect weather....great day! I'll be back if I can get good prices through Golf Now.

Disappointing

I figured for $100 the course would be a gen compared to the last two courses we played. Both of the others were great by the way. My two biggest shocks were the condition of the course and the lack of service. The tee boxes did look like they had been mowed in days. I mean long scraggley grass! The fairways were pretty beat as well. greens were OK. We say the cart girl on like the first hole and then on the 15th! since there is no return to clubhouse at the turn that was a long time. And it was a Saturday! Then she no food on the cart. None. I hate to dis a place but this was my least favorite course in the area.

Good challenge

First time playing this track, played from the black tees. You need to have at least 180 yards carry consistently to play from there. Tall grass in front of tee box made it more difficult to see the fairways. The black tee box grass was approximately 1&1/4 to 1&1/2 long. Noticed other tee boxes were mowed closer ( just different not used to long grass on the tee).good pace of play. If you can't stay straight this track is lined with houses both sides not a best choice. But I will most likely play again.

a challenge off the tee, greens break a lot

Definitely worth playing,

Choose your tees carefully as can be challenging.

Some greens are quite steep with lots of break.

Course plays through a subdivision limiting the views at times.

Walked

Fabulous course, incredible scenery, moderately difficult

Great course that challenges all levels. The stout golfers can play the yellow tees from the tips and face 220-240 carries over water and around narrow bunkers, while moderate abilities can face relatively open fairways and much shorter holes. It's a great course for scenery and for all ability levels. Fairways are a bit chopped up on several holes, but the greens are in great shape.

Decent Course, Terrible Staff!

The young men who took our clubs upon arrival were friendly, but after that the Marshall, Club Pro and others were downright rude. Both of our carts ran out of power, I guess they hadn't been charged overnight. We called to let them know on hole 7 and they never came out until I called again on hole 13. They made it sound like I was inconveniencing them. The starter was totally condescending and rude as well. One of our foursome flew in from Virginia and rented clubs, a defective set. 2 club heads broke off on normal swings off the tee. The golf pro was accusatory and rude instead of apologetic. Worst staff I've ever encountered.

Fun course to play with some tricky holes, overall well worth the Money.

Great track for mid handicappers

Nice solid track. It has a great mix of short and long holes for par 3's, 4's and 5's. Course has lakes and elevation changes to make the track interesting and scenic. Greens rolled smooth though they were slower than what I expected and are fairly flat. The one downside for course conditions are the bunkers. Very sad shape. More hard packed DG than true fluffy sand.

Fairways were in great shape.

Great Golf Experience

I was surprised to learn this is an Arnold Palmer Design. I really enjoyed playing this course. Course conditions and pace of play were both excellent. For the Golfnow rate, you can't beat it. The layout is a little confusing as there is alooking a private course as well. Paired with 3 great gentleman and we were able to keep pace with the twosome out in front of us.

Beautiful Desert Course!

Playing Arroyo for the first, I wasn't sure what to expect. The course looked nice in photos, and had great reviews, so figured I'd give it a try. I couldn't of been happier! Great, fun course, with an excellent staff. Everyone was very friendly from the minute to drive up. The course conditions were very good. Nice, semi fast greens, fairly wide fairways, and plenty of yardage markers. The course is more about ball placement and picking your shots. Most of the par 4's were slightly on the shorter side, so I found myself teeing off with an iron quite a bit, and setting up yardage for my second. The greens were a bit on the harder side, so landing short and letting the ball release to the hole was key.

All in all, the Arroyo was everything I was expecting and more. I had a great time and will play again.
